About the role
We are seeking a Functional Safety Engineer to join exida in Australia. This is a full-time position that plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and reliability of our engineering systems and products. As a Functional Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining functional safety strategies across our projects and operations. This role is essential to our commitment to delivering safe, compliant solutions to our clients and stakeholders.
What you'll be doing
Conducting functional safety analysis and assessments in accordance with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements
Developing and maintaining functional safety plans, documentation and procedures for projects and products
Performing hazard and risk assessments to identify potential safety issues and recommend mitigation strategies
Conducting safety reviews, audits and verification activities to ensure compliance with functional safety standards
Providing technical support and guidance to project team on functional safety requirements and best practices
Staying up to date with evolving functional safety standards and regulatory changes in the industry
What we're looking for
A recognised qualification in Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline
Proven experience in functional safety engineering, ideally within safety-critical systems or high-reliability industries
Demonstrable knowledge of functional safety standards such as IEC 61508, IEC 62061, ISO 26262, or equivalent
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to conduct complex safety assessments
Experience with hazard analysis methodologies including FMEA, HAZOP and fault tree analysis
Proficiency in safety-related documentation and the ability to communicate technical safety concepts to diverse audiences
Familiarity with safety-critical system design and verification processes
Excellent project management and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple safety initiatives simultaneously
Professional certification in functional safety (e.g. CFSE/CFSP) is highly desirable
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
