Production Supervisor – Meat Processing

Kintyre Meats Ltd | Gladstone, Wairarapa

Permanent Full-Time | Monday to Friday | $32–$38 per hour depending on experience

Ready to step up and lead from the front?

Are you an experienced meat processing professional who knows their way around a slaughter floor, enjoys leading people, and takes pride in getting the job done right?

Kintyre Meats Ltd is looking for a motivated, hands-on Production Supervisor to join our team at our Gladstone processing plant in the Wairarapa.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a busy production environment, enjoys a challenge, and knows how to balance productivity, quality, safety and teamwork.

 About the Role

Reporting to the Plant Operations Manager, you'll play a key role in keeping our daily processing operations running safely, efficiently and smoothly.

Your primary focus will be supervising the slaughter floor, while also coordinating activities across other plant departments, from stockyards through to loadout.

You'll work closely with the wider leadership team, support the Plant Operations Manager as their 2IC, and help create an environment where people work together, perform at their best and take pride in what they do.

 Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and coordinating daily slaughter floor operations to meet production targets.

  • Supporting operational activities across the plant, including stockyards, chillers, dispatch and by-products.

  • Ensuring high standards of food safety, hygiene, quality and regulatory compliance.

  • Coordinating staffing, work allocation and daily production requirements.

  • Coaching, motivating and developing team members while identifying training opportunities.

  • Conducting daily operational meetings and communicating production priorities.

  • Maintaining accurate production, training, attendance and compliance records.

  • Promoting a strong health and safety culture and ensuring safe working practices.

  • Working collaboratively with management, maintenance, quality control and external regulatory representatives.

  • Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity and overall plant performance.

 About You

We're looking for someone who leads by example, communicates well and isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves when needed.

 Ideally, you'll bring:

  • Previous supervisory or departmental experience within a New Zealand meat processing facility.

  • Sound knowledge of slaughter floor operations, processing standards and hygiene requirements.

  • Strong people skills and the ability to lead, motivate and support a diverse team.

  • A practical, solutions-focused approach to problem-solving.

  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.

  • An understanding of workplace health and safety and regulatory compliance.

  • The confidence to make decisions, manage competing priorities and keep things moving.

  • A positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to work as part of a team.

Relevant meat processing qualifications, leadership training, forklift certification or first aid qualifications would be an advantage.

Don't tick every box? If you've got solid meat processing experience, natural leadership ability and the drive to take the next step, we'd still love to hear from you!

What's on Offer?

  • Competitive pay: $32–$38 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

  • Permanent, full-time employment: Monday to Friday, with usual working hours of 5.30am–4.00pm (some flexibility required).

  • A hands-on leadership role: Make a genuine impact on day-to-day operations.

  • Career development opportunity: Work closely with and support the Plant Operations Manager as 2IC.

  • A team-focused workplace: Join a business that values hard work, accountability, respect and having a laugh along the way.
