*Role and Responsibilities*

_What You?ll Do:_

1. Certification & Compliance

• Maintain existing product certifications and support new ones as products and markets expand (safety, energy efficiency, metering, EMC, and others).

• Prepare and maintain certification documentation, including technical files, test reports, component lists, and labeling and marking requirements; support certification body audits and inspections.

• Interpret new standards and regulatory requirements, identify what applies to our products, and plan the path to compliance.

• Monitor changes to standards and codes and assess their impact on products and documentation.

• Review design, component, and supplier changes for certification impact before they reach production.

1. Test Development & Validation

• Interpret certification, regulatory, customer, and production requirements and independently develop the test approach.

• Design and build test hardware, from schematics and PCBs to wiring, fixtures, and enclosures, along with the software that runs it.

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve existing production test equipment and software.

• Execute tests, analyze results, and produce reports suitable for certification bodies and internal records.

• Improve test coverage, throughput, and data traceability on the production line.

• Root-cause failures from testing, production, or the field, and drive fixes into design, firmware, or process.

1. Embedded Firmware

• Maintain, debug, and extend microcontroller-based firmware in C/C++: bug fixes, new features, and configuration changes.

• Work on control logic, state machines, fault handling, and safety interlocks.

• Support connectivity, OTA updates, and integration with backend and cloud systems.

• Manage code with version control, release management, and change documentation.

_What You Bring:_

• Degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering.

• 3+ years of combined hardware and firmware experience, ideally in power electronics, EVSE, or industrial electrical products.

• Strong embedded C/C++ on microcontrollers (ESP32, STM32, or similar), including RTOS-based development.

• Proficiency in Python or a similar language for test automation, data acquisition, and tooling; comfort with Linux and single-board computers.

• Schematic capture and PCB layout (Altium, KiCad, or similar), with the ability to design and build your own test hardware.

• Solid grasp of isolation, creepage/clearance, grounding, and EMC practices, plus safe work on mains and high-voltage equipment.

• Product safety certification experience (UL, CSA, IEC, or similar), including working directly with a certification body.

• Lab expertise with standard test and debug equipment; strong bring-up and root-cause skills.

• Working knowledge of common communication interfaces and protocols (serial buses, Modbus, CAN, Wi-Fi, Ethernet).

• Clear technical writing; you produce test plans, procedures, and reports an auditor can follow.

• EV charging standards and protocols (SAE J1772, IEC 61851, OCPP, ISO 15118).

• Energy metering or energy efficiency certification experience.

• Experience in a manufacturing environment with an ISO 9001 QMS.

• Functional safety awareness (IEC 61508 or similar).

• SPICE or thermal simulation.

• BMS/BESS or DC fast charging experience.
