Senior Full-Stack Engineer - Healthcare Technology

Purpose:

Take hands-on ownership of highly innovative in-house software development in healthcare.

You will combine strong full-stack engineering with practical product judgment: understanding business requirements, recommending solutions and delivering secure, reliable software that works in production.

You will work directly with the CEO as part of a small, collaborative team. This is a senior individual contributor role with no direct reports and substantial responsibility for technical decisions and delivery.

Further details about the software and development roadmap will be shared with shortlisted candidates on a confidential basis.

What you will do:

- Build and maintain frontend applications, backend services, APIs, data models and integrations.
- Work with the CEO and relevant stakeholders to understand workflows, clarify requirements and define acceptance criteria before implementation.
- Translate agreed priorities into achievable releases, explaining scope, estimates, dependencies and trade-offs.
- Take ownership of assigned features and components from technical design through implementation, deployment and ongoing improvement.
- Make practical architecture decisions that establish maintainable foundations and support future growth without unnecessary complexity.
- Build dependable integrations, including appropriate authentication, validation, error handling and recovery.
- Take responsibility for production readiness, including testing, access controls, monitoring, deployment and recovery arrangements.
- Investigate production issues, resolve underlying causes and improve system reliability.
- Use feedback and operational evidence to assess whether delivered functionality works as intended.
- Use AI development tools effectively while taking responsibility for the correctness, security and maintainability of the result.
- Share knowledge through code review, documentation and collaborative development so systems can be supported by more than one person.
- Communicate progress, decisions and risks clearly, raising material issues early.

Product ownership:

You will own the quality, technical delivery and ongoing performance of the features and components you build.

We expect you to understand the problem, challenge weak assumptions, recommend better solutions and follow through after launch. The CEO retains responsibility for business strategy, priorities and final scope decisions.

What we are looking for:

- Evidence of personally delivering and operating full-stack software in production.
- Strong coding and debugging skills across a modern frontend and backend stack.
- Experience turning an incomplete business brief into a practical, working solution.
- Sound judgment around APIs, data modelling, integrations and asynchronous processing.
- Practical AWS experience, including CDK, Lambda and DynamoDB, together with SQL databases.
- Experience implementing authentication, role-based permissions and secure handling of sensitive information.
- Familiarity with automated testing, CI/CD, production monitoring and incident investigation.
- Effective use of AI-assisted development tools, supported by independent engineering judgment.
- The ability to make decisions independently, explain trade-offs and recognise when specialist input or approval is needed.
- A collaborative approach: you carry work forward while making it possible for others to understand and support it.
- Care for user experience, reliability and maintainability.

Experience with SaaS platforms, healthcare software, complex integrations or small engineering teams would be advantageous. Familiarity with OAuth/OIDC and MCP is also useful.

The opportunity:

Help shape highly innovative in-house software development, with direct access to decision-makers and meaningful influence over the engineering foundations.

We need someone who enjoys building, takes responsibility for what they ship and can turn ambitious requirements into dependable software.
