Furniture Sales Consultant – Tauriko
Danske Møbler | Tauriko
Helping New Zealanders furnish their homes for more than 60 years.
We are a proud New Zealand family-owned furniture business with Danish heritage, combining locally made furniture with carefully selected international brands and contemporary collections. Our business is built around quality, design, craftsmanship, service and long-term customer relationships.
We are now looking for a mature Furniture Sales Consultant to join our Tauriko team.
This is not a role for someone who wants to sit back and wait for customers to approach them.
We are looking for someone mature with energy, confidence, initiative and a genuine intent to help customers style their homes with Danske Mobler furniture they love coming home to.
The role;
As a Furniture Sales Consultant, you will be responsible for creating an excellent customer experience from the moment someone enters the showroom through to delivery and beyond.
You will:
• proactively greet and engage customers
• understand their needs, lifestyle, space and budget
• recommend suitable furniture, fabrics, colours and complete room solutions
• confidently explain product features, quality and value
• recognise buying signals and ask for the sale
• prepare accurate and professional quotes
• follow up every genuine sales opportunity
• build repeat business and long-term customer relationships
• maintain excellent product knowledge
• contribute to showroom presentation and merchandising
• work closely with your Store Sales Manager and wider team
• take ownership of your personal sales results and KPIs.
Our expectations;
The retail environment is challenging, and we are very clear about the standards we expect from our sales team.
We cannot control the economy, interest rates or consumer confidence. What we can control is what happens inside our showroom.
We expect our sales consultants to:
• treat every customer as a genuine sales opportunity
• avoid pre-judging customers or their ability to buy
• listen carefully before recommending products
• sell the lifestyle and emotional value, not simply recite product specifications
• attempt to close before defaulting to a quote
• follow up quotes consistently and professionally
• maximise both large and smaller sales opportunities
• support other team members when needed
• take responsibility for their results
• be coachable and willing to continuously improve.
Where Tauriko is heading;
Tauriko is an important part of the Danske Møbler network and we are committed to growing the branch.
Our focus is on building a stronger, higher-performing sales culture based on:
customer service, sales intent, accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement.
We are investing in structured sales coaching, regular performance reviews, product knowledge and ongoing development to help our people succeed.
We are looking for someone who wants to be part of that journey and contribute meaningfully to the store's future growth.
Who we are looking for;
Ideally, you will have previous experience in furniture, interiors, interior design, homewares, curtains, kitchens, appliances or another consultative/high-value retail environment.
More importantly, you will have:
• proven sales ability
• confidence asking for the sale
• strong communication and listening skills
• a professional and well-presented manner
• genuine interest in furniture, interiors and design
• the ability to build trust quickly
• strong follow-up habits
• personal accountability
• a positive and competitive mindset
• willingness to receive coaching and feedback
• availability to work weekends, which are our key trading days.
What we offer;
You will be joining an established New Zealand furniture business with a strong reputation and a broad product range, including:
• New Zealand-made furniture
• customisable furniture solutions
• exclusive imported collections
• premium lounge, dining, bedroom and occasional furniture
• Stressless® products
• opportunities to assist customers with complete room solutions and in-home consultation.
We provide;
• a base salary
• uncapped sales commission
• additional performance-based commission opportunities
• structured sales coaching
• product training
• ongoing management support
• opportunity to build a strong long-term career in furniture sales
• recognition for high performers.
For someone with the right attitude, discipline and sales ability, this is a role where your earning potential can grow significantly with your performance.
