Hospice South provides free specialist palliative care to people across Southland and the Wakatipu Basin, and our community makes it possible. We're a collaborative team that's passionate about what we do and grateful for the generosity that keeps our doors open.

We're looking for a hands-on Supervisor to run our new Donation Station in Invercargill.  It’s a busy, buzzing place, where donations are received, making sure every donation gets the best chance of a second life.

Working 40 hours per week, Thursday to Monday, you'll lead a great team of staff and volunteers, welcoming our generous donors. You’ll make sure donations are received, sorted and sent on their way to our stores efficiently and sustainably, getting the best re-use and recycling of every donation.

About the role

·         Oversee the day -to-day operation of the Donation Station.

·         Coordinate the receipt, sorting, storage and movement of donated goods within agreed timeframes.

·         Greet donors to assist with safe unloading and receipt of donations, and complete daily operational records

·         Maintain a strong health and safety culture.

·         Build a positive and inclusive team with induction, training, and ongoing development.

·         Maximise opportunities for reuse, recycling and onward distribution, minimising waste.

·         Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, safety and donor experience.

About you

·         A natural leader who leads with respect and professionalism

·         Demonstrated experience supervising or leading a team

·         Proven great people and customer service skills

·         A practical, solutions-focused approach, and you stay calm when it gets busy

·         Strong organisation skills and good decision-making

·         A real commitment to health and safety

·         The fitness for hands-on work: lifting, moving goods and being on your feet

·         A current, clean NZ driver's licence
