Robert Half are partnering with a Wiltshire-based business to recruit an experienced Stock Accountant on a 6-month temporary contract.
This is a hands-on role supporting the finance team through a busy period, with a strong focus on stock accounting, project analysis, and manufacturing finance.
Working closely with operational and finance stakeholders, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of inventory reporting, investigating stock variances, and providing meaningful analysis to support business performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and reconcile stock and inventory accounts
- Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies and valuation issues
- Support monthly management accounts preparation
- Analyse manufacturing costs, work-in-progress and inventory movements
- Work closely with operations, supply chain and production teams
- Assist with project accounting and cost tracking across multiple projects
- Provide financial analysis and reporting to support decision-making
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes
- Ensure accurate SAP transactional reporting and data integrity
- Develop and maintain Excel-based reports and analysis tools
Experience Required
- Qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience accountant
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of stock accounting and inventory controls
- Experience supporting project accounting activities
- Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP and data analysis
- Experience using SAP Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
Desirable
- Experience of cost accounting
- Exposure to ERP system implementations or process improvements
- Experience working within fast-paced operational businesses
