Clinical Lead – Registered Social Worker
Based in Taranaki or Manawatū | Hybrid | Full-time
Your Social Work practice can have an impact beyond one caseload.
At MindFull Support, we're looking for an experienced Registered Social Worker who is ready to bring their practice into a Clinical Lead role.
This isn't a traditional Social Worker position carrying an individual caseload.
You'll use your Social Work knowledge, judgement and experience to strengthen the quality of support around rangatahi and whaiora with high and complex needs. Working alongside frontline kaimahi, whānau, Oranga Tamariki and other professionals to help create safe, consistent and meaningful support.
A big part of your mahi will be coaching people, strengthening practice and helping teams make sense of complex situations.
If you enjoy working alongside others, asking the right questions, bringing people together and turning clinical thinking into practical frontline support, this could be a really good fit.
What you'll be doing
As a Clinical Lead, you'll provide clinical and Social Work practice leadership across MindFull services.
Your mahi will include:
providing clinical guidance, coaching, mentoring and reflective practice to frontline kaimahi;
bringing a Social Work lens to assessment, formulation, support planning and risk;
helping develop and review Support Plans, Safety Plans, Hauora Plans and Risk Management Plans;
supporting responses to incidents, safeguarding concerns and changes in whaiora needs;
helping teams understand trauma, behaviour, relationships, environment and the wider systems surrounding a young person;
working alongside whānau, Oranga Tamariki, health professionals, iwi providers and other agencies;
advocating for the rights, voice, wellbeing and aspirations of whaiora;
supporting culturally safe, strengths-based, trauma-informed and relational practice;
contributing to training and capability development across our frontline teams;
helping identify patterns, practice gaps and opportunities to improve how we support people; and
participating in rostered after-hours Clinical Lead on-call coverage.
The role is about clinical leadership and strengthening practice, rather than day-to-day line management of staff.
Why Social Work?
We intentionally want a Social Worker in this Clinical Lead position.
Our mahi sits across disability, mental health, child wellbeing, youth support, whānau, community and statutory systems.
We want someone who can see the whole picture, not just what is happening for a person in a particular moment, but the relationships, experiences, environment, culture, whānau and systems around them.
You'll bring Social Work values and practice into multidisciplinary clinical leadership while working alongside people from a range of professional and lived-experience backgrounds.
Who we're looking for
You'll need to be:
a Registered Social Worker in Aotearoa New Zealand;
holding a current Annual Practising Certificate;
experienced in Social Work, ideally within mental health, disability, youth, child wellbeing, complex care or community services;
confident working with tamariki, rangatahi and/or whaiora with complex needs;
comfortable assessing and responding to risk and safeguarding concerns;
experienced in working with whānau and across multidisciplinary or interagency environments;
able to coach, guide and positively influence the practice of others;
culturally responsive and committed to Te Tiriti-informed practice;
calm and able to think clearly when situations become complex; and
a strong communicator who can turn professional knowledge into practical guidance.
Experience within residential, community-based or intensive support environments would be valuable.
You'll also need a full New Zealand driver's licence.
What MindFull is like
MindFull Support works alongside tamariki and rangatahi with high and complex support needs across Aotearoa.
Our approach is strengths-based, relational and grounded in the belief that people do their best mahi when they feel trusted, supported and connected.
We sometimes describe ourselves as an upside-down company.
That means leadership isn't about hierarchy for hierarchy's sake. Good ideas can come from anywhere, and we want the people closest to the mahi involved in shaping how we work.
We care about clinical quality, but we also care about being human.
You'll be joining people who are prepared to kōrero openly, reflect on practice, challenge things that aren't working and keep learning.
What we can offer you
A genuine opportunity to shape clinical and Social Work practice across MindFull.
Hybrid and flexible ways of working.
Meaningful mahi alongside rangatahi, whānau and frontline teams.
Regular professional supervision and opportunities for professional development.
The opportunity to coach and develop others rather than carry a traditional Social Work caseload.
A workplace where your professional judgement and voice matter.
Access to employee wellbeing support.
A team that genuinely wants to keep improving the way support is delivered.
