About us

At InterContinental Auckland, luxury comes to life through thoughtful details, warm connections and experiences that feel personal to every guest.

Located at the iconic One Queen Street, our hotel brings the international spirit of InterContinental® to the heart of Auckland. Drawing on our brand’s heritage and the character of our city, we invite guests to discover a richer perspective of the world—and our colleagues play an essential part in that journey.

We are looking for an exceptional Duty Manager who brings confidence, care and a passion for leading outstanding guest experiences. From welcoming a first-time visitor to recognising a returning guest, you will help set the tone for each stay, empowering your team to deliver service that is warm, intuitive and seamless.

Working across Front Office and Club InterContinental, you will be a visible leader, a trusted point of contact and a steady presence when it matters most. This is an opportunity to take ownership, develop your leadership skills and make your mark within the world’s most international luxury hotel brand.

Explore your journey ahead

  • Personalised Guest Experiences – Build meaningful connections with guests, anticipate their preferences and turn thoughtful touches into memorable moments throughout their stay.

  • Operational Leadership – Support the Rooms Division Manager in overseeing Front Office and Club InterContinental, ensuring a seamless guest journey and consistently high standards of service.

  • Team Development – Lead by example, coaching and mentoring colleagues to build their confidence, develop their skills and bring InterContinental® service standards to life.

  • Daily Coordination – Maintain an overview of room inventory, reservations and guest requests, helping the team prepare for arrivals and respond confidently as priorities change.

  • Duty Management – Act as a key point of contact for guests and colleagues when senior leadership is unavailable, exercising sound judgement and providing clear direction.

  • Service Recovery – Listen with care, take ownership of guest concerns and work towards thoughtful solutions that restore confidence and leave a lasting positive impression.

  • Hotel Collaboration – Work closely with colleagues across departments to coordinate special requests, share guest preferences and deliver a well-connected service experience.

  • Quality and Presentation – Carry out regular operational checks across guest rooms and public areas, identifying opportunities to maintain the attention to detail expected of a luxury hotel.

What we need from you

  • Luxury Hospitality Experience – Ideally two to four years of experience in a luxury hotel, including experience in a supervisory role within Front Office or Club Lounge operations.

  • Confident Leadership – The ability to motivate, coach and support a team, creating an environment where colleagues feel confident delivering exceptional service.

  • A Personal Approach – A natural ability to connect with people, recognise individual needs and make guests feel welcome, valued and understood.

  • Sound Judgement – Strong problem-solving skills, a calm approach under pressure and the confidence to take ownership of guest concerns.

  • Clear Communication – Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with fluency in English. Additional languages are an advantage.

  • Systems Knowledge – Proficiency in hotel management software and Microsoft Office, with strong organisation and attention to detail.

  • Flexibility – Availability to work a rotating roster, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
