Build electronics. Solve problems. Improve processes.
Triode is a growing New Zealand electronics manufacturing and engineering company producing electronic assemblies and products for customers across a diverse range of industries.
We’re looking for an Electronics Production Technician – SMT to join our production team.
This is a hands-on technical role for someone who enjoys electronics manufacturing, understands the importance of quality and precision, and likes finding better ways to make things.
About the Role
Working within our Surface Mount Technology (SMT) team, you'll help manufacture a wide variety of electronic assemblies in our high-mix production environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
Setting up and operating SMT production equipment
Preparing programs, tools, equipment and materials for production
Manufacturing electronic assemblies using automated SMT and manual processes
Interpreting Bills of Materials, manufacturing files and production documentation
Monitoring SMT processes and equipment performance
Performing routine preventative maintenance
Contributing to process improvements that improve quality, reliability and efficiency
This isn't simply a machine operator position. We're looking for someone who understands the manufacturing process, notices when something isn't right and has the technical curiosity to investigate why.
About You
You'll ideally have:
Previous electronics manufacturing experience
Experience operating or setting up SMT equipment
A practical understanding of electronics
Strong technical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail
The ability to interpret manufacturing documentation and Bills of Materials
Good computer skills
A strong commitment to quality and right-first-time manufacturing
Experience with high-quality soldering, SMT equipment maintenance or IPC standards would be advantageous.
A qualification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related technical field would also be beneficial, although demonstrated practical capability is equally important to us.
What We're Looking For
Technical capability matters, but so does mindset.
You'll enjoy working at Triode if you:
Take pride in producing quality work
Notice when something doesn't look right
Enjoy troubleshooting technical problems
Are comfortable working across different products in a high-mix environment
Take ownership of your work
Enjoy learning and developing new skills
Look for practical ways to improve how things are done
Why Triode?
You'll be joining a growing New Zealand technology and manufacturing business where your work has a visible impact.
We offer:
Southern Cross Health Insurance
Opportunities to develop your electronics manufacturing and technical capability
Exposure to a diverse range of electronic products and manufacturing processes
A high-mix environment where you're continually learning
Opportunities for career development as Triode continues to grow
If you're technically minded, enjoy electronics manufacturing and want a role where you're encouraged to understand and improve the process rather than simply operate it, we'd like to hear from you.
