MG Fresh Produce Group is New Zealand’s leading supplier of domestically grown and imported fresh produce. As a grower co-operative, we have a proud history of growing, marketing, selling and distributing a comprehensive range of fresh fruit and vegetables throughout New Zealand.

We operate a national network of branches and work closely with growers, major retail chains, food service customers and independent outlets to keep fresh produce moving across the country every day.

We are now looking for our next generation of warehouse leaders.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Our Warehouse Leadership Development Programme is designed for people who want to build a long term career in warehouse operations, logistics and leadership with MG.

You will initially be based in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch, where you will develop your operational knowledge, leadership capability and understanding of the wider MG business.

This is a hands-on programme. You’ll work alongside experienced warehouse and branch leaders, learning how to lead people, manage day to day warehouse operations and deliver in a busy, fast-paced fresh produce environment.

You will also participate in relevant modules from the MG Graduate Programme, giving you exposure to other areas of our business and helping you understand how our warehouse operations connect with our growers, customers and wider supply chain.

Your development will include exposure to areas such as:

  • Warehouse operations management

  • People leadership and team development

  • Health, safety and wellbeing

  • Operational planning and productivity

  • Fresh produce handling and quality

  • Transport and logistics

  • Sales and customer service

  • Procurement and supply chain

  • Branch management

  • Leadership and personal development

The goal is to prepare you to step into a future warehouse leadership role within the MG network.

As opportunities become available, successful participants will need to be open to relocating to another MG location within New Zealand to take the next step in their career.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for people with leadership potential, a strong work ethic and an interest in building a career in warehouse operations.

You might already be working in warehousing, logistics, distribution, fresh produce or another operational environment and be ready for your next challenge.

You will ideally bring:

  • Some experience in warehousing, logistics, distribution or a similar operational environment

  • A genuine interest in becoming a people leader

  • A willingness to learn and take on responsibility

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • A practical, hands on approach

  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

  • A focus on safety, teamwork and getting the job done

  • Flexibility around working hours, including the early starts that come with the fresh produce industry

  • A willingness to relocate within New Zealand as your career progresses

Previous leadership experience would be an advantage, but it isn’t essential. We are looking for people with the potential and motivation to become great leaders.
