BIM Lead - make digital engineering the reason clients come to you
Is BIM still seen as a cost where you are?
In a lot of consultancies, BIM sits behind the engineers. It keeps the models tidy, runs the clash reports and nobody outside the office really sees it.
My client does it differently, and they're already doing it.
They're a well-established building services consultancy with a strong Brisbane team, and digital engineering is already a service they sell. On some major projects they've been engaged as the lead BIM consultant in their own right. Now they want a senior BIM / Digital Engineering Lead to run BIM internally and take that side of the business further.
This isn't a backfill where you inherit someone else's setup and keep it ticking over. The foundations are there and the work is already coming in. You'll have the backing to shape where it goes next.
Why people are interested in this role
BIM Manager · BIM Lead · Digital Engineering Manager · Digital Delivery Manager · VDC Manager · Senior BIM Coordinator
This role may suit someone currently at...
A large multidisciplinary consultancy, a building services or engineering consultancy, or the digital engineering team of a tier one builder.

I am based in Brisbane and I specialise exclusively in Building Services recruitment for the Queensland market and have been recruiting in this sector for over 24 years, building long-standing relationships with consultancies, contractors and developers across the industry.
I’ve spent over two decades recruiting exclusively within Building Services, so I understand the technical roles, the key firms in the market, and what makes a move worthwhile for people in this industry.
Over that time I’ve built a strong network across Australia’s building services industry, including many consultancies and contractors you’ll know — and quite a few you may not.
My role is simple: connecting the right people with the right opportunities.
If this particular role isn’t quite what you're looking for, feel free to get in touch anyway. I'm always happy to have a confidential conversation about the market, your career direction, and opportunities that may not yet be advertised.
All conversations are strictly confidential, and I'm always happy to provide an honest view of the market if you're simply curious about what opportunities might exist.

Why people are interested in this role
- You get to build something. The business wants a client-facing digital engineering stream that wins work in its own right, and you'll be the one building it.
- You'll be in front of clients, not hidden behind the model. They want someone who can sit with clients, architects and builders and show them what digital engineering can do for their project, well beyond clash detection.
- It's a genuine senior role. You'll run BIM across the office and own project delivery, with real influence over the direction.
- The money reflects it. $150k-$200k. It's a broad range on purpose. If you're earlier in your BIM leadership career, there's real room here to come in at the lower end and grow into the top of it, as long as you have the right background and attitude.
- Managing BIM across the office: standards, processes and the people doing the modelling
- Delivering projects and keeping multidisciplinary models coordinated and on track
- Advising clients and project teams on how to get real value from digital engineering
- Helping develop the digital engineering offer and supporting the business in winning work with it
- A solid hands-on modelling foundation, ideally Revit in a building services environment
- Experience leading BIM on projects, not just modelling on them
- Design-management judgement: you understand how design gets delivered and can guide a project team through it
- Confidence dealing directly with clients and external teams
- Consulting background preferred. If you're coming from the contractor side (VDC or digital engineering at a builder) and you've been advising on design and dealing with clients, I'd still like to talk to you.
- A Bachelor's degree in engineering, or another formal qualification in a related field, would be highly regarded
