Work Location – Chennai, India

Role type – Full-time

Office presence – contracted for up to 5 days per week in office

Role Purpose

The FP&A Manager is responsible for the accuracy and quality of everything the FP&A team produces. You'll review and collate the
work of analysts, check that the numbers are right, and synthesize them into clear, meaningful insight. You'll directly own the areas that don't warrant a dedicated analyst and act as steward of the planning and forecast models the team relies on.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line review and challenge of all analyst output before it goes further

  • Check that figures reconcile, tie across outputs, and are consistent with source systems

  • Interrogate the reasoning behind an analyst's conclusion, not only the arithmetic

  • Ensure assumptions and definitions are explicit and consistently applied

  • Escalate issues, data problems, and emerging risks promptly

  • Consolidate analyst output into a coherent view of performance across products and entities

  • Turn analysis into insight: articulate what has moved, why, what it means, and what should be considered

  • Prepare the monthly performance and forecast position for the Head of FP&A with commentary that stands alone

  • Identify the two or three things that matter each month and give them prominence

  • Own operating expenditure and headcount analysis, including budget versus actual reporting

  • Own cashflow forecasting, funding-related analysis, and balance sheet forecasting

  • Run the budget and rolling forecast cycle to timetable

  • Act as owner of planning and forecast models, maintaining documentation, version control, and audit trail

  • Lead and develop FP&A analysts, setting clear outcomes, priorities, and deadlines

  • Identify and implement automation opportunities across recurring FP&A work

Skills and Capabilities

  • FPAC, FMVA (or equivalent)

  • Demonstrable experience reviewing and challenging the work of others, with accountability for its accuracy

  • Ability to synthesize detailed analysis into a clear, concise view for a senior audience

  • Experience owning a budget and forecast cycle, or a substantial part of one

  • Strong financial modelling skills, sufficient to interrogate and maintain models rather than only operate them

  • Demonstrable experience using AI to improve processes and output

  • Methodical approach with high standards of accuracy

  • Sound judgment about what matters; confidence to leave out what does not

  • An instinct for when a number looks wrong, with persistence to find out why

  • Ability to write clearly and concisely, explaining a movement without restating the workings

  • Comfortable being challenged on the team's work and your own

  • Ability to develop others rather than absorbing work yourself

  • Clear communicator across time zones; confident raising an issue early

  • Desirable: experience in lending, consumer credit, or financial services; line management of analysts; Python, SQL, or planning tooling beyond Excel; Power BI, Tableau, or comparable visualization tools; NetSuite or comparable ERP; support of external audit and complex information requests

What Success Looks Like

  • You understand the planning and forecast models, the product and entity P&Ls, and the source systems the numbers come from. You've met the accounting and MI teams and agreed how actuals, accruals, and portfolio data reach FP&A.

  • You own operating expenditure and headcount analysis with budget versus actual reporting and commentary. You've established the review routine — nothing leaves FP&A without a first-line check and a stated view attached. You've run one full monthly cycle, reconciled and synthesized before it reaches the Head of FP&A.

  • You run the rolling forecast cycle to timetable with a light-touch review from the Head of FP&A. The planning and forecast models are documented, version controlled, and under a clear audit trail. You have an agreed automation plan for recurring FP&A work with the first change delivered. You own cashflow forecasting, funding-related analysis, and balance sheet forecasting with an independent view of forecast accuracy.
