Are you a commercially minded leader who enjoys improving business performance, identifying opportunities and turning ideas into results? Prospa, EastPack’s Orchard Management division, is looking for a Commercial Manager to drive commercial performance, efficiency and continuous improvement across the business.

Prospa manages approximately 1,350 hectares of kiwifruit for more than 300 growers across eight regions. With over 80 permanent employees and around 150 seasonal workers, it is a large and diverse operation with a strong focus on orchard performance, commercial outcomes and grower value.

Working closely with the General Manager and wider leadership team, you’ll play a key role in identifying opportunities, leading strategic projects and delivering practical improvements across the business.

Key responsibilities
  • Drive commercial performance, profitability and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the commercial performance of the RSE workforce programme, including planning, productivity and deployment.
  • Lead the commercial and operational performance of the harvest programme.
  • Improve labour productivity and financial outcomes across harvest, winter pruning and seasonal activities.
  • Manage supplier and contractor relationships, including negotiations, pricing and procurement.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, profitability and value for growers.
  • Lead strategic projects and business improvement initiatives through to implementation.
  • Work collaboratively with managers, growers and EastPack teams to achieve shared goals.
About you

We’re looking for a proactive commercial leader who takes ownership, builds strong relationships and enjoys making businesses perform better. You’ll bring:
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, with a track record of improving business performance.
  • Proven leadership and project management skills, with the ability to turn plans into results.
  • A continuous improvement mindset and a practical, solutions-focused approach.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship management abilities.
  • Initiative, drive and the ability to work autonomously across a range of business priorities.
  • Horticulture, agriculture or related industry experience would be an advantage, but strong commercial capability is the priority.
  • A full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence and flexibility to travel and work variable hours during peak seasons.
What’s on offer?
  • Senior leadership involvement: Join the Prospa Senior Leadership Team and work directly with the General Manager and other key leaders.
  • Ownership and autonomy: Take responsibility for important business areas and have the opportunity to make a real difference.
  • Scale and variety: Influence operations across eight regions, more than 300 growers and a large permanent and seasonal workforce.
  • Innovation and development: Lead improvement projects, explore new technologies and learn from other industries and international markets.
  • Competitive package: A remuneration package based on experience, including a company vehicle, mobile phone, laptop and fully subsidised private health insurance.
