We have a vacancy for a full time Graduate or Lawyer in our Litigation team, in our Wellington office. If you are interested in ACC, but more Senior we are also interested in hearing from you.
Our highly successful medico-legal practice area is sought out by clients all around NZ and is experiencing a surge in work. We’re looking for another committed litigator (or someone who is interested in litigation) who wants to make a positive difference in their clients’ lives, to join this team.
In this role your key focus will be in the medico-legal area and specifically it will be primarily to help our clients with their ACC claim disputes. You will get to work on a wide variety of interesting cases, some of which may be high profile cases. Over time, you will also get to do work in other litigation areas too, including commercial, estates, and debt recovery litigation, but to start with ACC work will be your focus.
You will report to and be mentored by a Senior Associate who has specialised in medico-legal work for over 10 years and work closely with another junior lawyer.
We’re looking for someone who has all or most of the following:
Has exceptional people skills and is highly empathetic, as you’ll be dealing with clients who are going through some very difficult personal situations.
Has a real interest in specialising in the ACC area – and wants to help clients get the compensation and help they are entitled to.
Has the ability to distil complex concepts into plain English, when talking to your clients over the phone, when in meetings and through your written correspondence.
Is comfortable in Court or hearings, as this role involves a lot of advocacy/court time.
Has some relevant experience in dealing with ACC related claims, or experience working in another medical related role.
Understands the Accident Compensation Act 2001.
Shows a lot of initiative, asks good questions, and has a strong work ethic, and
Is team minded, has a “can do attitude” and enjoys working with a close-knit supportive team.
