About the role
McConnell Dowell is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our team supporting an upcoming major civil infrastructure project in metropolitan Adelaide.
Joining as the project builds towards delivery, you’ll take responsibility for engineering and construction outcomes across your area of works, with a strong focus on safety, quality, program and cost.
Working closely with Managers, Superintendents and the wider project team, you’ll lead engineering activities, provide direction to Engineers and ensure your area of works is effectively planned, coordinated and delivered.
Key responsibilities:
You’ll be an established Senior Project Engineer with significant experience delivering complex works in construction or heavy engineering environments. You’ll be comfortable leading engineering teams, taking ownership of your area of delivery and working closely with construction leadership to achieve project outcomes.

Key responsibilities:
- Lead engineering and construction delivery across the allocated project area.
- Coordinate engineering, planning, quality, survey, cost and scheduling activities.
- Manage civil works delivery against project quality, program and cost requirements.
- Work with Managers and Superintendents on construction planning, temporary works and project progress.
- Monitor program, progress and costs, providing accurate reporting and coordinating procurement and subcontract tender evaluations.
- Oversee temporary works verification, engineering audits, quality inspections and continuous improvement.
You’ll be an established Senior Project Engineer with significant experience delivering complex works in construction or heavy engineering environments. You’ll be comfortable leading engineering teams, taking ownership of your area of delivery and working closely with construction leadership to achieve project outcomes.
You’ll bring:
- A tertiary qualification in construction, civil or mechanical engineering
- Demonstrated experience working at Senior Project Engineer level within construction or heavy engineering
- Strong project engineering and project management capability
- Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams and coordinating complex construction activities
- Strong commercial awareness across cost, program, procurement and subcontractor management
- Sound working knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively across engineering, construction and project
