Keep the work moving. Help the team do their best.
Bring your technical knowledge and people leadership skills to Calect Electrical, an established Oamaru business. As our new Service Manager, you’ll lead the field team and keep a varied mix of electrical work running smoothly.
You’ll report to the Operations Manager, making day-to-day decisions independently and referring bigger issues when needed. From dairy servicing and rural work to industrial projects and domestic jobs, there’s plenty of variety.
The role
Working closely with the field and office teams, you’ll:
Plan workloads and allocate people, equipment and materials. Adjust priorities as jobs and customer needs change.
Set clear expectations, coach staff and support apprentice development.
Keep customers informed and resolve complaints, callbacks and delivery issues.
Manage quotations, variations and job costs. Address delays, rework and lost margin.
Keep Simpro records current so completed jobs can be invoiced promptly.
Monitor site safety and workmanship, arranging technical support where needed.
You’ll have room to improve how work gets done, with a direct impact on the team, customers and business performance.
What you’ll bring
You’ll have an electrical or mechanical background and experience managing people and workflow. We also welcome quantity surveyors with relevant operational and people leadership experience.
You’ll be someone who:
Makes sound decisions and stays calm when priorities change.
Communicates clearly with customers and colleagues.
Sets standards, addresses issues fairly and follows through.
Understands job costs and margins.
Uses digital systems confidently and keeps accurate records.
Quoting, project management and job management software experience would be useful. Simpro can be learned.
You’ll need a full, clean driver licence and permanent New Zealand work rights. Any electrical work or technical supervision will depend on your qualifications and authorisations.
Working at Calect
You’ll join experienced electricians, recently qualified tradespeople, apprentices and an office team. Calect has a longstanding commitment to developing people, with senior electricians sharing their knowledge and supporting those learning the trade.
This is a long-term role with scope to grow as the business grows. You’ll have established systems and core workflows to work with, plus the opportunity to make practical improvements.
The position offers:
Permanent, full-time work based in Oamaru.
A 40-hour week, Monday to Friday, with additional hours as needed.
$90,000–$100,000 annual salary, depending on experience.
A company vehicle, phone and laptop.
