Great opportunity for a Chartered Accountant to join our dedicated, collaborative finance team to lead the technical accounting function. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys applying technical accounting expertise, owning complex reporting outcomes, and being directly involved in the detail while contributing to the success of a growing healthcare group.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, this newly created role is responsible for ensuring the integrity of the Group's financial reporting, statutory compliance, tax obligations, and financial governance framework. You’ll embrace the variety and challenge that comes with broad scope and a technically complex environment and enjoy building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders. As subject matter expert for NZ IFRS, technical accounting matters, and external reporting, your expertise across complex accounting issues and financial reporting will help the business maintain strong financial stewardship now and into the future.

About the role …
- Leading month-end and year-end financial reporting activities
- Preparing statutory financial statements and Group consolidations
- Managing the external audit process and auditor relationships
- Preparing technical accounting assessments and position papers
- Ensuring compliance with NZ IFRS and accounting policies
- Overseeing direct and indirect tax compliance, including the preparation of GST, FBT, RWT and income tax returns
- Managing treasury activities, debt facilities, cashflows, monitoring covenants and preparing covenant reporting
- Maintaining lease accounting and IFRS 16 compliance
- Supporting acquisitions, complex transactions, and emerging accounting matters
- Driving continuous improvement, automation, and financial controls across the Group.
About you …
- CA ANZ or CPA qualified with demonstrated, broad accounting experience (ideally 5+ years)
- Strong financial reporting and statutory accounting experience
- NZ IFRS technical accounting knowledge
- Enjoy working autonomously, within a collaborative team culture
- Experience preparing or auditing financial statements
- External audit exposure and strong understanding of financial controls
- Tax compliance experience across direct and indirect taxes
- The ability to analyse complex transactions and provide practical accounting solutions
- Strong communication skills and confidence working with auditors, senior leaders, and external stakeholders.
