About the role
You'll be a Regional Development Officer growing baseball across greater Canterbury — from Christchurch city through to Selwyn and Waimakariri. This is a hands-on, field-based delivery role. You won't be behind a desk. You'll be in schools during the mornings introducing kids to baseball, and at club training in the evenings working alongside coaches and players. The goal is simple: get more children playing baseball at local clubs. Everything you do is pointed at that outcome.
Key responsibilities
Deliver back-to-back baseball sessions in primary schools Tuesday to Friday mornings for class groups of children aged 5–12, running drills, working stations, and ensuring every child has a positive first experience
Rotate across Canterbury's active clubs Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings, working on the diamond alongside coaches and investing in junior and youth players
Manage school bookings, session notes, and regional coordination independently
Build and maintain relationships with schools, clubs, coaches, and players across the region
Cover greater Christchurch, Selwyn, and Waimakariri daily
About you
Genuine baseball background — playing or coaching at club level or above
Good with people across all age groups and contexts
Self-managing — you confirm bookings, complete session notes, and follow through without supervision
Full NZ driver's licence and reliable vehicle
Police vetting clearance under the Children's Act 2014 (Baseball NZ covers the cost and supports the process)
Energy to show up at school at 8:30am and at club training at 6:00pm in the same day and genuinely enjoy both
