Tourism Industry Aotearoa (TIA) is the only independent association that represents all sectors of our large and diverse tourism industry. We’re champions of our industry, working to make sure tourism gets the recognition it deserves as a vital contributor to Aotearoa’s economy and social wellbeing.
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Marketing and Engagement Manager to join us on a fixed term basis to cover parental leave. We are expecting this role to commence in February 2027 through to November 2027.
About the role
We’re looking for a warm, experienced marketing and people leader to lead our marketing, communications, partnerships and events mahi while our Marketing and Engagement Manager is on parental leave.
You’ll lead a talented team of six events and communications professionals. Your focus over this period will be on keeping the team supported, connected and performing at their best. That means coaching and backing your people, managing workloads and priorities and getting stuck into delivery to support the team as needed.
You’ll provide senior leadership for our marketing and communications plan and all TIA events, making sure everything we put out is on brand and connected to what we’re trying to achieve for our members and the industry. You’ll also lead our commercial partnerships, keeping those relationships strong and adding value for our partners.
This role is about leading delivery but you’ll be working closely with the CE and Senior Leadership team bringing strategic thinking to the table, guiding priorities and helping the team make good calls along the way.
About you
You’re a dedicated people leader first. You enjoy bringing out the best in a team, and people tend to feel supported and motivated working with you. You’re a confident generalist marketer who’s comfortable across comms, events, brand and partnerships, and you can step into a team quickly, build trust and keep things moving.
We’re looking for someone who will bring:
Proven experience leading and developing a team
Solid generalist marketing experience across communications, events or managing partner/sponsor relationships
Strong relationship skills and the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders
Good judgement, a practical approach when priorities compete
We’re big believers in inclusive, accessible workplaces, so this ad is a guide, not a checklist. If you don’t tick every box but feel this role could be a great fit for you, we encourage you to apply.
Why join us?
We’re a collaborative, dedicated team who back each other, celebrate wins big and small, and really turn up for one another. Our work makes a difference. We lead on critical issues, using our expertise to drive change and advancement across the tourism industry.
At TIA we value contribution, welcome diverse perspectives and encourage everyone to bring their whole selves to work. Sustainability is woven into everything we do, from supporting thriving local communities to considering the economic, environmental and visitor impacts of our work.
Apply now
Please apply via Seek with your CV and a cover letter sharing why you’d like to join our team. Applications close 5pm Monday, 9 November, but don't delay as we'll be reviewing applications as they come in.
We know this time of year gets busy, so we’re getting in early to finalise this process before the summer break. We are expecting this role to commence in February.
