EGL: Geotechnical, Earthquake and Dam Specialists
At EGL, we strive to see beyond. We are a New Zealand based, engineer-led consultancy with a strong focus on technical excellence and tackling highly complex problems.
Our projects are large; some spanning multiple decades and requiring deep technical judgment, continuity and close collaboration with clients and project partners.
Our team brings specialist dam engineering expertise, alongside broad experience across infrastructure, water, commercial, and land development sectors. We take pride in being close to the design, owning the technical thinking, and helping shape solutions from early advice through to construction. We encourage our people to think deeply, build strong technical capability, and understand our clients’ drivers so we can deliver solutions that combine technical rigour with practical judgement that endure. At EGL, learning and growth never stops.
As we continue to grow, we are seeking engineers to join our team based in Auckland, Christchurch and Waihi.
The opportunity
This role will suit a senior engineer who enjoys technically challenging design work, wants meaningful client and project responsibility, and is motivated by the opportunity to keep developing their judgement alongside experienced specialists.
You will contribute to a strong pipeline of dam, water and infrastructure projects across New Zealand, with opportunities to support work in Australia and further afield. Depending on your experience, you will lead packages of work, guide design decisions, mentor junior engineers and help manage engineering risks through clear advice and practical judgement; and contribute to strong client relationships through the quality of your work.
At EGL, you will be part of a close, technically focused team where your contribution is visible and valued. You will work directly with experienced specialists and senior decision-makers, with the opportunity to take real ownership of your work while still having support around you when the problems are complex.
This is not a narrow design role. You will be involved across the full project lifecycle, from understanding the problem and managing risk, through to design, reporting, construction support and client conversations.
What you will do
EGL is an employee owned, New Zealand based engineering consultancy with over 40 years of experience. We are proud of our culture where people are valued, supported, and trusted to do their best work. You will have the opportunity to work close to senior decision-makers, contribute meaningfully to important projects, and build a career around technical excellence.
