· Lead one of New Zealand’s most influential grower advocacy organisations.
· Part of a high growth industry critical to NZ Inc.
· Based in the Bay of Plenty.
New Zealand Kiwifruit Growers Incorporated (NZKGI) is the independent representative body for New Zealand's kiwifruit growers. As the industry's trusted voice for growers, NZKGI plays a critical role in advocating for growers' commercial, political and industry interests while supporting the long-term success, sustainability and competitiveness of New Zealand's world-leading kiwifruit sector. Funded by a grower levy, NZKGI works closely with a wide variety of stakeholders to ensure growers have a strong and influential voice in shaping the future of the industry.
Reporting to the Chair and Executive Committee, the Chief Executive Officer is responsible for leading NZKGI's advocacy agenda and ensuring the organisation remains the respected and independent voice of New Zealand kiwifruit growers. This is a highly visible and relationship-intensive leadership role, operating at the intersection of growers, industry, government and the wider primary sector. The CEO will engage with a broad range of stakeholders, influence industry outcomes, and provide leadership on issues critical to growers and the future success of the sector.
Leading a small but experienced team, the CEO will work closely with growers and elected representatives to identify emerging opportunities and challenges, shape strategic priorities, and ensure NZKGI continues to deliver meaningful value for its members. The successful candidate will bring the credibility, judgement and commercial acumen to navigate complex issues, build alignment across diverse stakeholder groups, and effectively represent grower interests in a dynamic and evolving environment.
Accordingly, we are seeking individuals who can demonstrate the following:
Proven executive leadership experience in a complex stakeholder environment.
Exceptional relationship management and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively across industry, government and community stakeholders.
Experience representing organisations, sectors or member-based groups in highly visible public-facing roles.
Strong strategic capability, with the ability to identify emerging issues, shape priorities and translate strategy into action.
Commercial acumen and sound business judgement, including experience leading organisational performance, financial stewardship and governance engagement.
A track record of delivering outcomes through advocacy, collaboration, negotiation and stakeholder alignment.
Strong people leadership capability, with experience building and leading high-performing teams.
Strong communication and media engagement skills, with the ability to represent an organisation confidently in public and stakeholder forums.
An understanding of the primary sector, horticulture, agriculture or a similarly complex industry environment would be advantageous.
This is a unique opportunity to lead one of New Zealand's most influential grower organisations and help shape the future of the country's kiwifruit industry.
