About Halter

At Halter, we’re on a mission to enable farmers and graziers to run the most productive and sustainable operations. Our customers are using Halter to break free from the time-intensive constraints of conventional practices. Imagine watching 500 cattle stand up and walk calmly towards their next break? No quad bikes, no dogs, no fences.

Just a group of cattle walking at their own pace. People say it looks like magic.

Our customers are revolutionizing grazing with Halter. It's changing lives and transforming an industry. People join Halter to do meaningful work. By joining us you’ll be solving challenging problems within a talented team and a culture built for high performance. Our team out-think, out-work and out-care. We’re committed to delivering real change in the world - this isn’t easy, and in truth, we love that it’s hard.

We’re backed to deliver on a mission that matters by Tier 1 investors including Founders Fund, Bessemer Venture Partners, BOND, DCVC, Blackbird, Promus Ventures, Rocket Lab’s Peter Beck and Icehouse ventures.

About the role

As a Business Development Executive at Halter, you’ll be at the front line of a movement that’s changing how farming works. You’ll own your territory, driving growth, building lasting relationships with farmers, and seeing first-hand the difference Halter makes on their farms. You’ll be Halter’s face in the region, the person farmers trust to understand their operation and show them what’s possible.

This is a role for someone who loves being out in the field, getting their hands dirty, and making things happen. You’ll set ambitious goals and chase them down, while making sure every farmer you bring on board has a great experience long after the deal is done.

You won’t be doing it alone. You’ll work closely with our Product, Support and regional sales teams, feeding back what you’re hearing on the ground so Halter’s technology keeps getting better for the people who use it. Every farm you bring on helps move us closer to our mission: helping 50% of the world’s habitable land become more productive and sustainable.

*This role is based in Taranaki and involves regular travel around the region.

Who we’re looking for

These are the things that matter most to us:

  • A genuine passion for helping farmers succeed. You’ve got experience in farm systems or the wider agricultural sector, and you care about the people behind every operation.

  • A hunter with a never-say-never attitude. You’re driven to beat your targets, and you’ve owned the full sales cycle, from finding the lead to closing the deal.

  • A phenomenal attitude. You’re a true team player who meets challenges head-on and keeps finding a way through. Attitude and potential matter enormously to us.

  • Someone who thrives on pace and freedom. You’re at your best in a fast-moving environment where you’re trusted to run your own patch.

  • A hunger to grow. You want to learn fast and evolve alongside a world-class sales team.

What your day could look like

  • On-farm sales meetings: Sitting down with farmers, getting to the heart of their challenges, and showing exactly how Halter can add value to their operation.

  • Prospecting: Building a strong pipeline of farms that are a great fit for Halter, qualifying new and inbound leads, and finding ways to shorten the path from first conversation to close.

  • Networking: Getting out into the community and building relationships across the industry that grow Halter’s reputation in the region.

  • Forecasting: Partnering with your Regional Sales Manager to forecast revenue month by month and quarter by quarter.

  • Growth initiatives: Helping shape a sales process that gets faster, sharper and more predictable as Halter scales.

  • Other duties as needed from time to time.
