About the role
NZ Labour Hire Group is seeking experienced Civil Labourers with Class 2 + Machinery Operator qualifications to join our team in Tauranga, Central Bay of Plenty. As a Civil Labourer – Class 2 + Machinery Operator, you will be responsible for operating plant and machinery whilst undertaking general labouring duties on construction sites. This role is essential to ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
Key responsibilities
Operate Class 2 machinery and plant equipment in compliance with health and safety regulations and company protocols
Perform general labouring duties including site preparation, material handling, and site cleanup
Assist with the setup and breakdown of work areas and equipment
Maintain accurate records of machinery operation and site activities
Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure project goals are met
Conduct pre-start machinery checks and report any defects or maintenance requirements
Adhere to all health and safety standards, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
Support the completion of construction tasks in a timely and professional manner
What we're looking for
Valid Class 2 driver's licence with Wheels , tracks and rollers preferred
Proven experience operating civil construction machinery and plant equipment
Demonstrated experience in general civil labouring or construction roles
Strong understanding of health and safety practices and procedures relevant to construction sites
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Physical fitness and capability to perform manual labour tasks
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Reliability and a strong work ethic with a commitment to punctuality
Willingness to comply with all site-specific induction and training requirements
