The Opportunity Working within a complex enterprise environment, you will be responsible for the technical design, development, testing and implementation of ESB integrations connecting business applications, payment platforms and external systems.
The role combines hands-on development with technical leadership, troubleshooting and stakeholder collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical design, development and implementation of Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) integrations.
- Develop APIs, web services and middleware components supporting secure payment transactions.
- Integrate payment gateways with internal systems, banking platforms, ERP solutions and third-party applications.
- Design message routing, transformation, orchestration and exception-handling processes.
- Implement transaction workflows covering authorisation, settlement, refunds, reversals and reconciliation.
- Develop interfaces using REST, SOAP, XML, JSON and messaging technologies.
- Ensure integration solutions meet security and data protection requirements, including PCI DSS where applicable.
- Monitor and optimise integration performance, reliability and transaction throughput.
- Support SIT, UAT, production deployment and post-implementation activities.
- Troubleshoot complex integration issues across development, testing and production environments.
- Prepare technical specifications, deployment documentation and knowledge transfer materials.
- Collaborate with solution architects, developers, business analysts and external vendors.
- 8–10+ years of software development experience.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on ESB, middleware or enterprise integration development.
- Proven technical leadership experience delivering enterprise integration solutions.
- Strong experience developing APIs, web services and integration components.
- Experience integrating payment gateways or financial transaction processing platforms.
- Knowledge of payment providers such as Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, Stripe, Adyen, Cybersource or equivalent.
- Strong technical expertise across REST, SOAP, XML, JSON and messaging technologies.
- Understanding of secure payment processing, encryption, authentication and PCI DSS.
- Experience designing message transformation, routing, orchestration and exception-handling processes.
- Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot production issues and support business-critical systems.
- Previous experience within government, public safety or complex operational technology environments is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving and technical documentation skills.

- Commencement: 19 October 2026 (anticipated)
- Duration: 10 weeks, concluding 18 December 2026
- Commitment: 3 days per week (30 working days)
