About TPEQ
TPEQ is a specialist transfer pricing and international tax advisory firm working with multinational businesses across New Zealand, Australia and internationally.
Our team brings extensive Big Four, international tax and transfer pricing experience. We combine the technical expertise and professional standards of a major advisory firm with the flexibility, accessibility and commercial focus of a specialist boutique.
We're a small, ambitious and growing firm where everyone makes a meaningful contribution. As we continue to expand, we're looking for another talented professional to join our team.
The opportunity
We're looking for an intellectually curious, analytically minded individual who enjoys solving complex problems and wants to develop a rewarding career in international tax and transfer pricing.
We're particularly interested in candidates with two to five years' relevant professional experience who are ready to take greater ownership of client work. However, we're also genuinely interested in hearing from exceptional graduates who demonstrate strong analytical ability, initiative and a desire to learn.
The successful candidate's role, responsibilities and remuneration will reflect their experience and capabilities.
You'll work directly with highly experienced advisers on interesting and challenging international matters, gaining exposure to the financial, commercial and tax issues that arise when businesses operate across borders.
This is an opportunity to develop specialist expertise, take on meaningful responsibility and grow your career alongside an ambitious advisory firm.
What you'll be doing
Depending on your experience, your responsibilities will include:
Transfer pricing advisory: Supporting the development and implementation of transfer pricing policies for multinational businesses, including intercompany services, financing arrangements, intellectual property and business restructurings.
Financial and economic analysis: Analysing financial statements, business performance and international transactions, including financial modelling and economic benchmarking.
Technical advice and documentation: Preparing high-quality transfer pricing reports, documentation and practical recommendations for clients.
International tax research: Researching Australian, New Zealand and international tax requirements, OECD guidance and relevant developments.
Client engagement: Working with clients to understand their businesses, identify issues and translate complex technical matters into commercially relevant advice.
Project delivery: Managing assigned tasks and, with experience, taking responsibility for workstreams, deadlines and client deliverables.
Innovation: Helping develop and improve our systems, templates and technology-enabled processes, including the responsible use of AI.
More experienced candidates will have opportunities to manage engagements, build client relationships and contribute to the development of junior team members.
About you
You may currently be working in transfer pricing, international tax, corporate tax, accounting, economics, finance or another relevant professional advisory discipline. Alternatively, you may be an outstanding graduate looking for an interesting and challenging start to your professional career.
We're looking for someone who brings:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and an enjoyment of complex challenges.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Confidence working with financial information, numbers and Excel.
Intellectual curiosity, commercial awareness and an interest in how international businesses operate.
Initiative, sound judgment and a willingness to take ownership of their work.
Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
A collaborative, down-to-earth approach and the ability to work effectively within a small team.
A genuine commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
Previous transfer pricing or international tax experience would be highly regarded but is not essential. We're willing to invest in developing someone with the right capabilities, attitude and potential.
Applicants must have the legal right to work in New Zealand.
