Are you an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor looking for an opportunity to use your commercial expertise in a role where your work makes a genuine difference to people's lives?

MHA is looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to take the lead on the commercial management of our property investment, maintenance and refurbishment programmes. This is a senior, client-side QS role, combining traditional quantity surveying responsibilities with wider contracts and commercial management.

Working as part of our Property and Estates team, you will take ownership of the financial and commercial aspects of projects across our property portfolio, ensuring that works are properly costed, procured and delivered to the required standards, on time and within budget.

What will you be doing?

You will lead on all aspects of the commercial management process, including:
• Cost planning, estimating, budgeting and financial forecasting for capital investment, maintenance, refurbishment, improvement and decarbonisation projects.
• Preparing tender documentation, managing procurement, evaluating tenders and negotiating contracts to secure value for money.
• Managing contracts and commercial arrangements, including JCT, NEC and Schedule of Rates.
• Undertaking post-contract cost management, including valuations, interim payments, variations, change control and final account negotiations.
• Monitoring project expenditure, managing commercial risks and producing financial reports and forecasts for senior management.
• Working closely with property, surveying, maintenance and project delivery colleagues, as well as contractors and external consultants, to ensure successful project delivery.
• Providing commercial advice, guidance and support to colleagues, helping to maintain strong financial controls, contractual compliance and high standards of delivery.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for an established senior professional with significant experience in commercial and contract management, who is confident taking ownership of projects and providing professional advice and challenge.

You will have:
• A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
• Significant experience working in a Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management role, ideally within social housing, care or a similar property environment.
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts, particularly JCT, NEC and Schedule of Rates arrangements.
• Proven experience of cost estimating, tendering, procurement, valuations, variation management and final account settlement.
• Strong financial and commercial skills, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control and risk management.
• The ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and bills of quantities.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• A full, valid UK driving licence.
•
RICS or CIOB membership would be desirable.

Just as importantly, you will be approachable, collaborative and comfortable working with colleagues at all levels. You will share MHA's values, demonstrate compassion and understanding, and recognise that the quality and value of our property works ultimately have an impact on the people who live and work in our services.

Why join MHA?
