Your chance to lead, shape and leave a legacy

For 130 years, Nurse Maude has been caring for our community in their homes and on our sites. Our 1,500 kaimahi do extraordinary work, often on their own in the community. We want every one of them to feel safe, supported and well.

We’re looking for a Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager to lead the next stage of our journey. This isn’t a role where you inherit someone else’s plan. You’ll shape the direction, build the approach alongside our people, and see the difference it makes.

Te Mahi/About the Position

Reporting to our GM People, Capability & Equity, you’ll lead Health, Safety and Wellbeing across Nurse Maude, working in partnership with leaders and teams to:

  • Shape a strategy and roadmap that our people help create and genuinely own
  • Help our services understand and manage the risks that matter most, in ways that fit how care is really delivered
  • Coach and support leaders to lead Safety and Wellbeing conversations with confidence
  • Build a culture where people speak up, learn from what happens and look out for each other

He momo/About you

You’re an experienced Health, Safety and Wellbeing professional who knows the technical side well. What really drives you is working with people. You’re approachable, down to earth and pragmatic. You’re as comfortable having a coffee with a community nurse as you are presenting to the Board, and you know culture is built by listening first and walking alongside people.

You’ll bring:

  • Strong experience managing significant critical risks in complex, people-centred or multi-site settings
  • A track record of building a positive safety culture with leaders and teams
  • The ability to bring people with you through coaching, facilitation and good conversations
  • A recognised health and safety qualification
  • A genuine commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally safe practice

You might be an experienced Health & Safety Manager looking for a role with real purpose and the freedom to shape it. Or you might be a Senior Adviser who has been leading the work and is ready to own it. We’re interested in what you’ve achieved and how you work.
