About the role

Rockquest Promotions Ltd (RQP) is seeking a Funding and Grants Manager to join our team in Mount Eden, Auckland. This is a part-time position that plays a crucial role in securing and managing funding opportunities to support our community, events, and development initiatives. The Funding and Grants Manager develops funding opportunities, prepares strong applications and manages grant reporting, with priorities agreed to make the best use of available working hours. The role works across government, philanthropic, community and sector funding, using programme evidence, participant outcomes and RQP's national reach to strengthen applications and develop new opportunities. The role leads the funding process from research and applications through to reporting and day-to-day communication with funders. It averages 24 hours per week over the year, with working periods planned and agreed in advance around funding cycles. Some periods will require more hours, while others will have no scheduled work.

Key responsibilities

  • Build and maintain an annual funding plan across RQP's programmes, company and charitable trusts, with priorities and funding targets agreed with the GM

  • Research relevant community, gaming, philanthropic, local and central government, arts, education and youth-development funding opportunities

  • Assess eligibility, strategic fit, timing, likely value, restrictions, effort and reporting obligations before recommending priorities

  • Lead the drafting and coordination of funding applications and supporting documents, and submit them once the required organisational and trust approvals are in place

  • Translate programme plans, outcomes and participant evidence into clear cases that respond directly to each funder's criteria

  • Develop application budgets with Programme Managers, the Head of Operations and Finance, using approved figures, the correct applicant entity and clear treatment of shared costs

  • Coordinate timely and accurate accountability reports, acquittals and progress updates with Programme Managers, Finance and Data and Insights

  • Build professional day-to-day relationships with funders and respond promptly to requests for information

  • Work with Programme Managers and Data and Insights to strengthen the evidence available for applications and reporting

  • Share funder feedback and funding trends so RQP can improve future applications and make informed strategic choices

About you

  • An experienced grant writer or funding professional who understands the New Zealand funding environment

  • A successful track record preparing grant applications, funding proposals or tender responses in New Zealand

  • Strong understanding of community trusts, gaming trusts, philanthropic foundations, government funding or other contestable funding environments

  • Excellent written communication and the ability to adapt a case to different criteria, audiences and word limits

  • Sound financial literacy, including confidence working with budgets, actuals, restricted funding and reporting requirements

  • Strong research, planning, document management and deadline control

  • The judgement to distinguish a credible opportunity from one that is poorly aligned or likely to create delivery risk

  • Confidence working independently while building constructive relationships across a busy team

  • Remote work within New Zealand, with regular contact with the GM and Head of Operations

  • Legal right to work in New Zealand
