Good financial information helps an organisation understand where it stands, what lies ahead and where it can make the greatest difference.
Our client, Rangiura, is looking for an experienced Management Accountant who enjoys getting into the detail and seeing the bigger picture. Someone who can turn financial information into clear advice, work alongside managers and bring a practical approach to planning and problem-solving.
With a start planned for the new year, we’re beginning the recruitment process now. If you’re thinking about your next move in 2027, this is an opportunity worth exploring.
About Our Client
At Rangiura, people and relationships matter. Their retirement village and care home is a community where residents’ wellbeing, dignity and connection are central to the way they work.
Guided by the values of being trustworthy, respectful, accountable and compassionate, Rangiura understands that sound financial management supports the care and services they provide today, as well as their plans for the future.
About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will bring together hands-on accounting, financial reporting, budgeting and practical business advice.
Working closely with the Business Operations Manager and Service Managers, you will help connect day-to-day activities with longer-term financial planning. You will explain what the numbers are telling the organisation, identify risks and opportunities, and assist the CEO and Board in making informed decisions about the resources in their care.
You will also oversee the Accounts Administrator & Funding Co-ordinator, providing technical guidance and supporting accurate, timely financial administration.
This is an in-house role of approximately 30 hours per week, with the working arrangements to be confirmed with the successful candidate.
Your key responsibilities include:
Managing month-end accounting, reconciliations and accurate financial records
Coordinating budgets, forecasts and cash flow planning
Preparing management and Board reports with clear commentary on performance, trends and matters requiring attention
Assisting managers understand their results, investigate variances and plan ahead
Working alongside the CEO & Business Operations Manager on operational budgets, maintenance and capital plans, supplier value and business cases
Maintaining financial controls and coordinating tax, funding and other financial reporting requirements
Working with Rangiura’s appointed accountants and auditors on year-end reporting and audit requirements
Improving financial systems, processes and reporting
Leading or contributing to projects as business needs require.
About You
You are comfortable working through the detail, but you also understand why it matters. You can spot an inconsistency, ask useful questions and explain your findings in a way that helps others decide what to do next.
Your approach is practical and collaborative. You take the time to understand how services operate, build good working relationships and provide advice that reflects the realities of the organisation. You are confident raising a concern, offering a recommendation and following agreed actions through.
You will bring:
A relevant tertiary qualification in accounting or finance, ideally supported by Chartered Accountant status or an equivalent professional qualification
At least five years’ relevant management accounting or financial reporting experience
Experience with budgets, forecasts, cash flow, month-end reporting and audit support
Sound knowledge of New Zealand accounting and tax requirements
Advanced Excel skills and confidence using accounting systems and reporting tools
Strong analytical skills, careful attention to detail and reliable follow-through
The ability to explain financial matters clearly to people without an accounting background
Integrity, discretion and confidence providing guidance to colleagues.
Experience in aged care, retirement villages or the not-for-profit sector would be an advantage. We are also interested in people from other sectors who can bring relevant experience and an appreciation of the people behind the financial decisions.
Your experience in understanding and complying with legislative requirements including reporting and working with External Consultants and Auditors will elevate your application.
Why Join Rangiura?
This is an opportunity to use your accounting experience in a setting where you can see how your work supports people and services.
