Location: Christchurch or Wellington preferred (Auckland or Dunedin may be considered) — Remote/Work from Home with occasional local and NZ wide travel requirements

Are you passionate about helping international students feel connected, supported, and culturally engaged during their study abroad journey in Aotearoa New Zealand? Arcadia Abroad is seeking an energetic, organized, and proactive Student Engagement Coordinator to support U.S. university students across our New Zealand partner institution locations.

In this rewarding and varied role, you will serve as the primary contact and main support person for students in your city. You will design and deliver immersive, culturally grounded activities and excursions, coordinate orientation programs, provide dedicated student support and pastoral care, manage local program administration, and build meaningful connections with community groups and partner university staff.

Because our student events involve outdoor adventure activities (such as hiking and kayaking) and require travel across Aotearoa New Zealand, flexibility for occasional domestic travel and weekend work is essential.

About You

You will bring:

  • A relevant Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience).

  • At least two years of professional experience, ideally within tertiary education or supporting international/study abroad students.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Māori and Pacific cultures, with the ability to authentically integrate these perspectives into student programming and experiences.

  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills to connect with diverse student cohorts, local stakeholders, and university partners.

  • Strong administrative, organizational, and time-management skills with high proficiency in digital tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and social media).

  • A high degree of problem-solving ability, adaptability, and sound judgment, particularly when responding to student welfare or emergency situations.

  • A genuine passion for student success, intercultural learning, and outdoor activities, along with a reasonable level of physical fitness.

  • A valid full Driver’s License and a P-Class Endorsement (or the willingness and ability to obtain one), plus a current First Aid certificate (or commitment to complete within 3 months).
