Guthrie Bowron Tauranga is seeking a retail superstar to join our small tight knit team. As a retail sales assistant, you are the face of our brand, engaging with customers to provide a positive shopping experience. Your key responsibilities include:

• Welcoming customers with a friendly demeanor, offering product information, and assisting them in finding the right solutions for their project

• Understanding and promoting current sales, promotions, and loyalty programs to enhance the customer experience and drive sales

• Maintaining a clean, organized, and visually appealing sales floor, including restocking shelves, arranging displays, and ensuring product areas meet merchandising standards

• Answering customer inquiries regarding products, store policies, and services, providing knowledgeable and helpful responses to enhance satisfaction

• Operating both the Guthrie Bowron and Dulux point-of-sale (POS) systems, processing payments, handling returns, and managing all customer transactions efficiently and accurately

• Assisting in inventory management tasks, including receiving shipments, conducting stock counts, and reporting low stock or product discrepancies to management

• Collaborating with fellow team members to achieve sales targets, meet store goals, and contribute to a positive team environment

Required Skills, Experience, and Qualifications

Must-have:

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with customers and team members

• A genuine interest in properly understanding our customers needs

• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, and occasional evenings

• Basic maths skills for handling cash and managing sales transactions accurately

• Ability to stand, walk, and lift moderate weights for extended periods, in alignment with the physical demands of retail work

• Strong motivation to drive your own learning about our broad range of curtain & upholstery fabrics, blinds, wallpaper, and paint

Would be an advantage:

• Previous experience in retail, sales, or customer service

• Familiarity with POS systems and other retail technology

• Experience with paint & woodcare products, wallpaper, curtains & blinds, or upholstery

• Practical experience in DIY and home decorating

Expected hours of work will be Monday to Thursday 9am to 5pm and one or two Saturday's per month by mutual agreement. Actual hours may be adjusted by negotiation.
