Looking for a part-time nursing opportunity where you can put your expert IV cannulation skills to use in the community and make a meaningful contribution to medical research?
Company
Atlantis Health is a global healthcare organisation dedicated to improving the lives of people living with chronic illnesses. We are proud to support participants taking part in international clinical trials by providing specialised, local, in-home nursing services across Aotearoa New Zealand. We value the expertise of our nurses and are committed to delivering high-quality patient care.
About the role
We are looking for an organised, detail focused Registered Nurse with strong IV cannulation skills to support a participant in an ongoing international clinical trial in Alzheimer’s Disease. You'll need to live within 1 hour of Taupō town centre and conduct visits independently in the participant’s home. Visits are once every fortnight with each visit being up to 4.5 hours (excluding travel time) and includes preparing and administering IV trial medication and completing associated clinical assessments. You'll work independently in the participant’s home but will have access to a wider remote nursing and clinical support team.
This is a unique opportunity for a confident, clinically skilled nurse who enjoys working autonomously looking for additional nursing work alongside existing commitments.
Your responsibilities will include:
Coordinating visits with the participant, courier and wider clinical trial team;
Preparing the trial medication in the participant’s home according to strict protocols;
IV cannulation and administration of trial medication via infusion pump;
Monitoring and documenting vital signs, adverse events and changes in medication history;
Maintaining accurate clinical records and submitting trial documentation within strict timeframes;
Working in accordance with the trial protocol, clinical procedures and relevant nursing standards.
Administration tasks pre/post visit including scheduling visits and uploading documents
Why consider this opportunity?
Rewarding opportunity to work independently outside of the hospital or general practice environment with the remote support of a dedicated clinical trial team;
Low hours ideal for nurses looking to supplement existing employment or get back into the workforce after a short absence (e.g. maternity/paternity leave);
Trial-specific training is paid and can be done online in the comfort of your own home. Receive ongoing support from an experienced remote clinical trial team;
Paid travel time and mileage reimbursement (at IRD reimbursement rate);
All clinical equipment and supplies provided;
An opportunity to contribute to international clinical research and help advance future treatment options.
About you
We're looking for a confident and experienced Registered Nurse who is comfortable delivering clinical care independently in a participant’s home. You will be detail focused and highly responsive to ensure trial standards and deadlines are met.
You'll need:
Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current Annual Practising Certificate and current CPR certification;
At least two years' post-registration nursing experience;
Recent IV cannulation experience (within the last two years) and confidence administering IV infusions;
Experience using infusion pumps;
Confidence working autonomously and making sound clinical decisions;
Excellent clinical documentation, communication and organisational skills with strong attention to detail;
Sound technology skills including Microsoft Office;
A full, current NZ driver's licence and reliable vehicle;
The legal right to work in New Zealand.
Experience that would be an advantage:
GCP training, clinical research or community nursing experience;
Caring for people living with dementia.
Above all, we're looking for someone who is patient-focused, reliable, highly organised and takes pride in delivering safe, high-quality nursing care.
