We are looking for a QA Automation Engineer to integrate a remote project in Portugal.
Profile:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or an equivalent technical field;
- Minimum of 4 years in QA / software testing, with at least 3 years of hands-on experience writing test automation in production codebases;
- Solid coding proficiency in at least one of Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Java, with comfort reading code in the others;
- Practical experience with test automation frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, REST-assured, or equivalent;
- Strong API testing capabilities (REST, JSON, authentication, contract, and schema validation);
- Proven experience executing and integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI, or Jenkins);
- Practical use of AI tools (LLMs, GitHub Copilot) for generating test cases, test data, and automation scripts;
- Good command of Git, code review processes, and clean-code practices applied to test code;
- Ability to plan and execute manual testing (end-to-end, integration) where automation is not practical or not yet in place;
- Desirable knowledge of cloud-native test environments (AWS, Azure), containers (Docker), performance/load testing (k6, JMeter, Gatling), SQL, and security testing (OWASP ZAP);
- Experience working embedded in Agile/Scrum teams and participating in production incident management (triage, root cause analysis, and postmortems);
- Languages: Fluent in English (primary working language); knowledge of French or Spanish is a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Design, write, and maintain automated tests across API, UI, integration, regression, and data layers using framework standards;
- Translate user stories and acceptance criteria into test cases and automated scenarios from the start of each sprint;
- Integrate automated test suites and quality gates into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, AWS, Azure);
- Apply AI-assisted tools day-to-day to accelerate test design, data creation, and failure triage;
- Collaborate with developers and DevOps to manage version-controlled test environments, investigate flaky tests, and eliminate redundant coverage;
- Support and coach junior/manual QA engineers while tracking and reporting quality KPIs defined by the strategy.
