About the role
NEC is seeking an experienced Senior Storage Engineer to join the high-performing Infrastructure Services team in Melbourne for a 6-month fixed-term contract. This is an opportunity to play a key role in supporting, maintaining, and enhancing critical storage platforms across on-premises and cloud environments. You'll work alongside talented engineers, contribute to major infrastructure initiatives, and help drive service innovation for customers.
Key responsibilities
Deliver day-to-day operational support, including incident, service request, problem, and change management activities.
Design, implement, and maintain enterprise storage solutions across on-premises, private cloud, and public cloud environments.
Manage storage infrastructure lifecycle activities, including upgrades, patching, capacity planning, and technology refreshes.
Deliver project-based work involving installations, migrations, upgrades, and platform enhancements.
Identify opportunities to improve service quality, performance, and operational efficiency.
Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and coaching to members of the Infrastructure Services team.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver exceptional customer outcomes.
About you
3+ years' experience supporting enterprise Storage and Storage Area Network (SAN) infrastructure.
Strong experience with storage technologies including NetApp, HPE Primera / Alletra, Pure Storage, Hitachi Storage Platforms, and Brocade SAN Technologies.
Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure issues.
Experience delivering infrastructure projects, including implementation, migration, upgrade, and design activities.
Broad understanding of VMware and Public Cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure).
Strong knowledge of ITIL Service Management practices.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and perform under pressure.
Desirable Experience
Backup technologies such as Commvault.
Experience with cloud-integrated storage and data protection solutions.
Exposure to large-scale enterprise or managed services environments.
