About the role

We're looking for a capable, creative and experienced cook/chef to join our small team at Mama G's Kitchen, based at Mata Brewery in Whakatāne.

Our fully equipped food truck-style kitchen serves up a popular menu of street food, along with occasional buffets and platters for functions.

We're looking for -

• Someone who loves cooking

• Ability to confidently manage kitchen service independently when required

• At least 2 years experience working in a commercial kitchen

• Well organised, reliable and able to work efficiently under pressure

• Passionate about good food, with creativity and fresh menu ideas

• Happy to pitch in with all aspects of running a small kitchen, whether that's preparing food, cooking, cleaning or delivering meals to customers if need be

• Friendly and comfortable interacting with customers

• Good understanding of food safety, kitchen hygiene and stock control

• Must have legal right to work in New Zealand

What we offer -

• Four day working week Thursday to Sunday

• Approximately 30 to 40 hours per week
