  • Excellent team and culture; brand new Auckland CBD office
  • Purpose-driven work that benefits every New Zealander
About the Company
The Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation manage the New Zealand Super Fund, a global investment fund that invests government contributions to help meet the future cost of universal superannuation.

The Guardians also oversee the Elevate Fund, backing small, fast-growing New Zealand companies.

This is complex, innovative and intellectually stimulating work, carried out by a team with a deep sense of purpose: sustainable investment delivering strong returns for all New Zealanders.

The New Zealand Super Fund has been named the world's best-performing sovereign wealth fund over the past 20 years by Global SWF, a reflection of the calibre of its people and its long-term performance.

Why this role matters
The Guardians are evolving their technology operating model to strengthen core platforms, improve risk and operations, and enable safe, scalable AI adoption. The digital workspace is where every employee feels that change.

You'll join the Technology Platforms & Experience function, reporting to the Senior Manager, Technology Platforms & Experience. You'll own the strategic direction, governance, lifecycle and performance of the Guardians' digital workspace platforms, making sure they're secure, well adopted and deliver a high-quality experience for every user.

This is an impactful role for a platform leader who wants to set direction, own the roadmap and lead a team of Platform Engineers and delivery partners to lift platform maturity.

Why you'll love working here
You'll have real ownership of the tools that shape how the whole organisation works every day, from Microsoft 365 and Teams to endpoint management and Power Platform.

You'll lead and grow a capable platform team, partner closely with the business, and your work will directly support a fund that matters to every New Zealander.

What you'll do
  • Own the technology strategy, governance and lifecycle of the digital workplace, including Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Intune and Entra ID
  • Look after Jira, Confluence, Power Platform, records and information management, and collaboration and productivity platforms
  • Lead device and endpoint management, and digital employee experience and adoption initiatives
  • Build and maintain platform roadmaps that balance business demand, technical improvement, risk reduction, vendor roadmaps and investment priorities
  • Be the primary relationship manager for platform stakeholders, turning their priorities and pain points into a prioritised pipeline of improvements
  • Lead platform governance and decision-making in line with architecture, security, risk and compliance requirements
  • Set meaningful measures for service health, adoption, user experience, cost and value, and use them to drive decisions
  • Manage vendors and partners across service performance, licensing, contracts, roadmap alignment and continual improvement
  • Lead and develop Platform Engineers, building clear ownership and shifting the team from reactive to proactive
  • Champion simplification, standardisation, automation and the smart adoption of emerging technologies, including AI
What you bring
  • Experience owning or leading digital workspace platforms (ideally the Microsoft 365 ecosystem) in a similar organisational environment
  • A track record of developing and delivering platform strategies and roadmaps that create measurable business value
  • Experience balancing business priorities, technology opportunities, risk and operational needs when making platform decisions
  • Proven leadership, including coaching, mentoring and building capability in technical teams
  • Commercial nous, with experience managing vendors, licensing, contracts and service performance
  • A strong understanding of platform governance, service management, security, risk and compliance
  • Experience in product-led, platform-led or service-oriented operating models, and Agile, DevOps or modern delivery environments
  • The ability to translate technical concepts into clear, business-focused outcomes, and to build trusted partnerships across business and technology
