Rare freelance opportunity to work in-house for a super-exciting, fast-paced digital-first NZ start-up that's already a big name in the US, and who's expanding across the globe!
You'd work alongside an incredible team of supersmart people and be a part of a purpose-led, science-based company with a uniquely NZ clinically proven product in the fastest growing area of the global health sector.
Our client is in the process of bringing its design function in-house and is looking for a versatile, experienced freelance Designer to help establish the in-house capability and provide interim support while they recruit a permanent Designer in February/March 2027.
We're looking for someone who can start immediately - this is essential. You can work either 4 or 5 days p/week (your choice!), 3 days in the CBD office and the rest from home and we want to lock-in the same freelance person from now until Feb/March next year. The company shut down over Christmas and open on 4 January and will need you back to work from either the 4th or 11th of January.
Around 90% of the role will focus on digital design, with the remaining 10% dedicated to print. Our client operates in the health industry, where accuracy, consistency and exceptional attention to detail are essential.
This is a fast-paced environment, with multiple projects running simultaneously across different global markets. You’ll be highly organised, comfortable managing competing priorities and deadlines, and confident jumping in and hitting the ground running. You’ll also be a proactive team player with strong communication skills and the ability to think ahead, plan effectively and keep projects moving.
You'll be working within existing brand guidelines and using and adapting a lot of existing assets; we're looking for someone with a creative eye but this is a doing role - not a concepting design role. You'll be confident taking projects from brief through to completion, tech-savvy, detail-oriented and comfortable working across a variety of digital channels.
The key responsibilities include:
Social content & digital creative - design static posts, carousels, stories, reels and other social first creative for paid and organic channels
Short-form video & content repurposing - Edit existing interviews, podcasts, user-generated content and brand footage into engaging reels, shorts and social cutdowns. Add captions, text overlays and simple motion graphics. Find creative ways to turn long-form material into multiple useful digital and social assets
Email design - Create campaign imagery, headers, graphics and other visual assets for email marketing, working with internal cx and marketing teams to support campaign and lifecycle comms
Figma icon system & web infographics - Build, maintain and own a centralised Figma icon library, with SVG-ready assets for easy integration by designers and developers. Design custom, web-ready infographics using the icon system to explain content clearly and match the relevant page
Print - Design in-store POS & shelf wobblers, magazine ads as required, consumer, practitioner and partner needs and prepare accurate artwork for suppliers
You'll need:
A minimum of 5 years + relevant graphic, digital and brand experience with the ability to work independently from brief to final delivery
A strong portfolio demonstrating digital and social creative, brand consistency, short-form editing and print production
Strong hands-on capability in Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud - including Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign, proficiency in Premier Pro or an equivalent video editing tool. The ability to produce simple motion graphics using After Effects or an equivalent tool
Experience developing icon libraries, reusable templates and organised asset systems, including SVG exports and assets for web use. Strong typography, layout and visual storytelling skills, including the ability to translate complex information into clear infographics
Practical knowledge of print artwork, including die lines, colour specs, bleed, resolution and prepress checks
Demonstrated success working in environments where speed and accuracy is essential
Experience working in consumer health, supplements, wellness, FMCG or a digital-first brand would be an added bonus, as would experience adapting creative for international markets and both consumer and practitioner audiences
Klaviyo experience is helpful but not essential
