Medical Laboratory Technician
Shift Information
7 on 7 off - Wednesday, Thursday (8 PM - 6:30 AM); Friday, Saturday, Sunday (6 PM - 8 AM); Monday, Tuesday (8 PM - 6:30 AM)
Minimum Experience
- 2 years of experience in a laboratory setting.
Certifications/Requirements
- Current ASCP Laboratory Certification.
- Ability to independently read microbiology results is preferred.
- Willingness and capability to perform venous and arterial blood collection.
Job Description
As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely test results to assist healthcare providers in determining patient care needs. The ideal candidate will be a strong generalist with experience in microbiology and a willingness to perform phlebotomy when necessary.
Due to the diverse and rural environment, the position requires extensive laboratory knowledge and the ability to adapt and learn new skills quickly. You will often need to respond promptly and accurately in various situations, from collecting samples to performing analysis and delivering test results.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather samples and perform laboratory analyses across multiple disciplines including microbiology, hematology, chemistry, blood banking, coagulation, urinalysis, serology, and blood gases.
- Maintain effective interpersonal interactions within the laboratory and the surrounding community.
- Demonstrate emotional maturity in high-pressure or STAT situations.
- Provide exceptional customer service and communication to patients and staff.
- Demonstrate high levels of self-motivation and time management skills.
- Effectively manage confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Assist with other duties as assigned as well as accommodate time-off requests.
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift and move up to 15 lbs. without assistance and weights beyond 15 lbs. with assistance.
