Survplanz Ltd is seeking a capable land surveyor to join our Auckland team.
This is not a junior support role. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of their own surveying jobs, solve problems independently and progress work through to completion without needing day-to-day supervision.
About the role
This is a hands-on role within a small surveying practice where you will manage your own jobs from allocation through to final delivery.
Your work will include job planning and preparation, cadastral research and calculations, fieldwork, drafting and plan preparation, along with direct communication with clients, consultants, Council and LINZ where required.
The work covers a broad range of surveying services, including site surveys, boundary surveys, construction and engineering surveys, and subdivision and cadastral surveying.
A key part of the role is being able to identify and resolve issues yourself, obtain missing information, organise work efficiently and keep jobs progressing through to completion.
For cadastral work, we expect you to prepare the job through to a standard where the licensed cadastral surveyor is reviewing the completed work rather than managing the process day-to-day.
About you
Ideally, you will have around five years or more of New Zealand land surveying experience, with strong cadastral knowledge. However, we are more interested in your capability, technical judgement and level of independence than the number of years alone.
You should be confident with Landonline and 12d, with strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and good documentation standards. You should also be a fast learner, able to quickly understand new systems, technical issues and job requirements and apply that knowledge with minimal supervision.
You should hold a relevant diploma or bachelor’s degree in land surveying and a valid New Zealand driver licence. Experience with advanced GNSS and total station equipment is also important.
Surveyors who are working towards their cadastral licence or have recently become licensed are particularly encouraged to apply.
Relevant New Zealand land surveying experience is essential for this position.
What we offer
At Survplanz, you will work across a varied range of surveying jobs throughout Auckland and have the opportunity to take genuine responsibility for your work within a small practice.
We use advanced surveying equipment and software and are open to adopting new technology and systems where they improve efficiency and quality.
We are also open to discussing flexible working hours for the right person.
For the right person, there is a clear pathway to greater technical and operational influence, with opportunities to step into a leadership role.
Remuneration will be based on your experience, capability and the level of responsibility you are able to take on.
How to apply
Please email your CV and a brief outline of your relevant New Zealand surveying experience to [email protected].
All applications and discussions will be treated in the strictest confidence.
