PURCHASING DIRECTOR – Jeddah, Saudi Arabia

An established automotive manufacturing operation is seeking an experienced Purchasing Director to lead its procurement function. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing purchasing strategies, managing supplier relationships, negotiating commercial agreements and ensuring cost-effective, uninterrupted supply to support manufacturing operations and business growth.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum 10 years' experience in purchasing, procurement or strategic sourcing within the automotive manufacturing industry.
• At least 5 years in a senior procurement leadership role, managing teams, supplier strategies and commercial negotiations.
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Engineering, Business Management or a related field.
• Proven experience sourcing automotive components, raw materials, tooling, capital equipment and MRO requirements.
• Strong track record in supplier development, cost reduction, contract negotiations and supply chain risk management.
• Knowledge of automotive quality standards and launch processes, including APQP and PPAP.
• Strong ERP knowledge; SAP experience advantageous.
• International sourcing and supplier management exposure will be beneficial.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with manufacturing and business objectives.
• Lead strategic sourcing, supplier selection and high-value commercial negotiations.
• Manage and develop local and international supplier relationships, ensuring quality, cost and delivery targets are achieved.
• Drive supplier performance, continuous improvement and supply chain risk mitigation.
• Support new product launches, plant industrialisation, tooling and capital equipment procurement.
• Manage purchasing budgets, cost-saving initiatives and total cost of ownership.
• Optimise inventory levels, supplier lead times and working capital in collaboration with internal departments.
• Establish procurement policies, systems, controls and contract management processes.
• Lead, mentor and develop the purchasing team.
• Provide procurement performance reports, commercial insights and strategic recommendations to executive management.
