Job Summary:

     The Southern Plaza Assisted Living & Memory Care Activity Director position is a full-time or part-time (depending on the schedule needs) at-will employee whom collaborates with the Executive Director of each Southern Plaza Assisted Living & Memory Care facility to help establish appropriate activities for each Resident.   

Physical Requirements:

     This job demands good physical and mental health.  The Activity Director may be required to lift, carry, or assist Residents and be willing and able to work a flexible schedule responding as needed to call’s by the Southern Plaza Assisted Living & Memory Care staff.  The Activity Director must be able to sit, stand, bend and move intermittently during working hours.

Job Knowledge:

The Southern Plaza Assisted Living & Memory Care Activity Director must possess comprehensive knowledge of good activity programs and its application to the aged, chronically ill and convalescent resident.  The Activity Director should have a general knowledge of the current rules and regulations involved in services at assisted living facilities (ALF) including Oklahoma State Department of Health regulations for ALF. The Activity Director must work to familiarize him/herself with Southern Plaza Assisted Living & Memory Care’s policies and procedures.  The Activity Director must understand and value quality of life issues for Residents and maintain the Residents’ quality of life.

Activity Director Essential Job Duties:

1. Assist in preparing a Resident Council meeting each month.  Minutes from the meeting shall be kept in order of Old Business and New Business.  The recorded minutes shall be placed in the Regulatory Manual each month.  A copy of the minutes shall be given to the Executive Director.
2. An Activity calendar with the scheduled events for the month shall be placed on the bulletin board by the 1st of each month.
3. The Activity calendar shall contain a minimum of 3 activities per day.  Activities shall include exercise, bingo, board games, card games, dominoes, baking, entertainment, parties, movies, shopping trips, dry cleaning drop offs, scenic drives, etc.  The internet, activity magazines, and activity books provide numerous ideas for activities.
4. Activities shall be accompanied with water, fresh fruits, and/or vegetables because Residents need to maintain a high level of hydration.
5. The Activity area shall be decorated with tasteful seasonal decorations.  The decorations shall be stored neatly in an area designated for activity storage.
6. The Activity area shall be arranged neatly at the end of each day.  The refrigerator and cabinets shall be cleaned weekly.
7. The Activity Director shall assist the residents in the dining room with drinks and meals when available.

Additional duties may be required at each specific Southern Plaza Assisted Living & Memory Care location.  The Executive Director shall give you any additional duties in writing.

Qualifications

Qualifications/Education:

     The Southern Plaza Assisted Living & Memory Care Activity Director must be trained to provide socialization, activity, and exercise services.
