Production Coordinator

Wellington | Full-time | Onsite

Bring structure, precision and momentum to the creation of exceptional jewellery, where craftsmanship, teamwork and client experience all matter.

About Us

The Village Goldsmith is not a typical jewellery business.

We sit at the intersection of design, craftsmanship and innovation, creating pieces that carry meaning, story and originality as much as they do quality and value.

We are world leaders in diamond setting innovation and floating diamond technology through our Floeting® platform.

We are building a business with global ambition. One that partners with the world's leading luxury brands, attracts discerning clients from New Zealand and around the world, and continues to push what is possible in jewellery design.

Our work has been recognised through leading industry awards, including recent success at the New Zealand Hi-Tech Awards, reflecting both our innovation and ambition.

About the Role

This is a pivotal coordination role at the heart of our jewellery workshop.

You will help ensure the smooth flow of work from design through production to completion, bringing structure, organisation and attention to detail to an environment where creativity, craftsmanship and deadlines must work together.

Working closely with our jewellers, designers, retail and operations teams, you will coordinate production priorities, manage timelines, oversee raw materials and ensure everyone has the information and resources they need to deliver exceptional results.

You will be the person who keeps things moving, anticipates potential issues and helps resolve them before they become problems.

Success in this role comes from building strong working relationships, understanding the realities of craft-based production and maintaining accurate, reliable systems that support both our people and our clients.

What You'll Be Responsible For

  • Coordinating workshop workflow, tracking jobs from commencement to completion and ensuring timelines and priorities are clearly understood.

  • Managing production schedules and job allocation in collaboration with the workshop team, balancing client deadlines, workshop capacity and individual skills.

  • Maintaining accurate job information and progress updates across physical and digital systems, including our CRM.

  • Working closely with retail and design teams to ensure client expectations, special requests and delivery commitments are communicated and managed effectively.

  • Managing raw materials inventory, including diamonds, gemstones, precious metals and jewellery components.

  • Coordinating procurement, purchase orders, supplier communication, goods receipting and stock reconciliations.

  • Maintaining accurate inventory records, monitoring stock levels and supporting regular stocktakes.

  • Identifying and resolving workflow bottlenecks, supply issues and production delays in a timely, constructive manner.

  • Supporting stock production timelines to meet merchandising and marketing requirements.

  • Contributing to continuous improvement across workshop, retail and operations processes.

About You

You are someone who enjoys bringing order to complexity and takes genuine satisfaction in making things run smoothly.

You understand that behind every exceptional piece of jewellery is a coordinated team, accurate information, careful planning and attention to countless details.

You are comfortable working in an environment where priorities can shift, deadlines matter and quality cannot be compromised.

You bring:

  • Strong organisational, coordination and time-management skills. You are patient and work through processes methodically.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when working with valuable materials and information.

  • Confidence managing multiple tasks, priorities and deadlines.

  • Experience in a workshop, production, manufacturing or similarly complex operational environment.

  • Strong administrative, numeracy and Excel skills, with confidence using digital systems. Comfortable with technology, moving between platforms and using AI tools.

  • Clear, professional communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships.

  • Comfortable in a busy workshop environment.

  • A calm, practical and solutions-focused approach when challenges arise. You are proactive and think strategically.

  • Experience with inventory, purchasing or supplier coordination would be an advantage.

You are proactive rather than reactive, comfortable taking ownership of your responsibilities and willing to follow through until the job is done.

You enjoy working with people, understand the importance of collaboration and can balance the needs of the team with the commitments made to clients.

An appreciation for design, craftsmanship and fine jewellery would be a bonus.
