The role
You'll report to the Production Engineering Manager and own our automation strategy from end to end. That means finding the opportunities, building the business case, and delivering projects through to commissioning on time and on budget. This is a hands-on role working with industrial robots, PLCs and servo systems. You'll work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality/HSE and Maintenance.
What you'll do
- Identify and scope automation opportunities and build the investment case
- Lead projects from electrical design through to commissioning, and report on milestones and ROI
- Design control systems and specify and program PLCs, HMIs, robots and servo drives
- Shape Seeley's digital automation roadmap with senior stakeholders
- Train operators and build in-house robotics capability
What you'll bring
Essential
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years in electrical engineering and industrial automation in a manufacturing or operational environment
- At least one automation project you've personally taken from business case to commissioning
- Hands-on programming experience with PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens or Mitsubishi) and industrial robots
- Working knowledge of HMIs, vision/camera systems, AGVs and barcoding
- Confidence reporting to senior management and aligning automation with business priorities
Desirable
- An unrestricted electrical licence (SA or an interstate equivalent)
Working arrangements
- Office-based, with regular time on the factory floor
- Some intrastate and interstate travel
- Occasional after-hours work during project delivery and commissioning
