Wildfinder are Greater Wellington's outdoor experience experts, offering bike and ebike hire, tours and daytrips, and watersports, across 4 branches and multiple tour routes. We're on the lookout for a bike mechanic or two, to help maintain the hire fleet, serve guests, and (if you're at an appropriate level) service external clients' bike as well. It's a seasonal business, so there's always more going on throughout the summer, holidays and weekends, and would be the perfect fit for a bike mechanic who's studying during the week, or someone who's looking for a second job at weekends for example.
Basic duties would include:
Serving customers at our rental sites
Maintaining and cleaning our rental fleet (hardtail mtbs, step through and hardtail ebikes)
Servicing bikes (90% of this is basic stuff like indexing gears, checking and tightening bolts, replacing tubes, tyres, brake pads, shift cables and housing, etc)
Prepping bikes for daytrips and tours
Extension duties (as time and skills allow):
Servicing clients' bikes
Briefing daytrip and multiday guests
Assisting guests on the trail (first aid or mechanical situations)
Shuttling bikes and/or guests around our various locations
Unique Wildfinder benefits
Outdoor work - open air workshops (sheltered in poor weather) means you can make the most of your summer rather than being cooped up in a bike shop
Varied work - less unboxing and bike building
Fun workplace - social job, with staff and guests who are having a great time
Access to purchase wholesale bikes, accessories, and other outdoor adventure gear
Free use of all the Wildfinder gear (bikes, kayaks, rafts, shuttles etc) when not in use by guests
If this sounds like you, please fire through a CV and cover letter to [email protected], and we can line up a chat. You must have experience working on bikes - either workshop experience in a bike shop, or extensive personal experience. Please detail this in your application. We're looking to get people started ASAP so don't hesitate :)
