Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane | Hybrid | Up to $200k + super

The opportunity
A global engineering and technology consultancy is growing its Australian electrical team and wants a hands-on Senior Electrical Engineer to deliver station and major infrastructure design. This is a design role. You will own your packages, produce the calcs and specs yourself, and still have time to guide the people around you.

Why this one stands out

  • Work on major transport infrastructure with real visibility and long-term project pipelines

  • Part of an international group with deep engineering credentials, but a collaborative local team

  • Hybrid: Monday and Friday in the office, Tuesday to Thursday from home

  • Genuine support towards CPEng or RPEV if you are not there yet

  • Mentor juniors and shape how the team works, without being pulled away from technical delivery

What you will do

  • Deliver detailed electrical design, calculations, reports and specifications

  • Lead allocated design packages from concept through to construction support

  • Design LV distribution, UPS and critical power, lighting, general power, containment, earthing and bonding, and metering

  • Review the work of engineers and designers and act as a technical checker

  • Write procurement specs, assess supplier offers and support bid evaluations

  • Coordinate with architectural, structural, civil and building services disciplines

  • Take part in peer reviews, design assurance and Safety in Design workshops

  • Build constructability, operability and maintainability into your design

What you will bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent

  • 8+ years designing electrical systems for rail, transport, buildings or industrial projects

  • Rail or station design experience (strongly preferred)

  • CPEng or RPEV registered, or well progressed towards it

  • Proven record of independently delivering design packages on complex projects

  • Solid grasp of LV protection, discrimination, fault loop, voltage drop, cable sizing, maximum demand and earthing

  • Software experience such as PowerCAD and AGi32 or similar

  • Working knowledge of Australian Standards

  • Commitment to Safety in Design

Nice to have

  • Rail industry designer, checker or approver experience

  • HV, control systems or electrical fire system design

  • BIM and digital engineering exposure
