Venue Manager - Slattery and Sons

A natural leader, a strong operator and someone who knows what makes a great pub tick? Slattery & Sons could be your next move.

We're looking for an experienced, driven and commercially minded Venue Manager to lead Slattery & Sons, one of Auckland's CBD, much-loved Irish pubs.

Slattery & Sons has a well-established identity, a strong reputation and a personality that sets it apart. We're looking for someone who understands what makes the venue special and has the leadership, passion and business nous to build on its success. Someone who can bring that personality to life through their team, maintain what customers know and love, and continually raise the bar on the overall experience.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll take full responsibility for the venue. You'll lead the entire team, set the direction, drive performance and ensure Slattery & Sons continues to deliver on what makes it a great Irish pub.

What's the role?

You'll be responsible for the overall success of Slattery & Sons – from the people and atmosphere to the financial performance and day-to-day operation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the team: Set the direction, expectations and culture. Lead, coach and develop your management team and staff, building a team that takes pride in what they do.

  • Owning the operation: Take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the venue, ensuring everything is organised, efficient and operating to a high standard.

  • Setting the standard: Be visible and hands-on, leading from the front and ensuring service, presentation and operational standards are consistently high.

  • Championing the venue: Protect and strengthen what makes Slattery & Sons special, ensuring the atmosphere, service and customer experience reflect its established identity.

  • Driving business performance: Take ownership of sales, labour, costs, budgets and key financial targets. Understand the numbers and know how to turn performance into results.

  • Growing the business: Identify opportunities to increase revenue, build customer loyalty, drive promotions and continue elevating the venue's profile.

  • Managing compliance: Ensure all licensing, health and safety, and operational requirements are met
