Senior Chef | Quad Eatery | Christchurch
Quad Eatery is looking for an experienced Senior Chef with strong baking skills to join our team at Christchurch’s historic Arts Centre.
We serve breakfast, lunch and a selection of sweet and savoury cabinet food. We’re looking for someone who enjoys the pace of a busy café, takes pride in their work and brings a positive, professional approach to the kitchen.
About the Role
You’ll be involved in all aspects of daily food preparation, from baking and cabinet food to cooking during a busy brunch service.
This role suits a confident, organised chef who can work independently, communicate well and maintain consistent quality under pressure. You’ll follow established recipes and have the opportunity to contribute ideas for seasonal dishes and cabinet offerings.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and present breakfast and lunch dishes to a consistently high standard.
Bake and prepare a variety of sweet and savoury cabinet items.
Organise daily preparation to keep the kitchen ready for service.
Contribute ideas for seasonal menus, specials and baking.
Cater confidently to dietary requirements.
Support stock control, ordering and waste management.
Maintain food safety, hygiene and kitchen cleanliness.
Work closely with the team to deliver an efficient service.
About You
Proven experience as a chef in a busy café or restaurant.
Strong short-order breakfast and brunch cooking experience.
Good baking skills are essential, including sweet and savoury cabinet food.
Able to stay calm, work efficiently and maintain standards under pressure.
Confident working independently and supporting your teammates.
Reliable, organised and attentive to detail.
A clear communicator who contributes to a respectful kitchen environment.
Available to work weekends and public holidays as required.
A relevant cookery qualification or equivalent practical experience is preferred.
