Role Summary:
We are looking for a highly motivated and results-oriented individual to help us maintain high-quality accounting support. The Lead Associate will provide senior-level accounting control and oversight for the daily operations of the third-party institutional book of business supported by an external vendor. This role will help ensure the accuracy and integrity of accounting, reporting, and regulatory data while supporting the front office and other business partners. Success in this role requires strong investment accounting knowledge, an analytical and control-focused mindset, the ability to resolve complex exceptions independently, and a willingness to collaborate across teams.
Roles & Responsibility:
Provide senior-level oversight of the third-party accounting vendor from an accounting, control, and regulatory perspective.
Review and validate GAAP & STAT accounting output used for client reporting and other internal and external deliverables.
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting and regulatory reports for accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery.
Analyze and resolve complex performance measurement, accounting, and data inquiries in partnership with relevant stakeholders.
Perform and review reconciliations among third-party vendor accounting records, transfer agent data, trading platforms, custodians, and other source systems.
Research, troubleshoot, and facilitate timely resolution of unexpected accounting results, data breaks, and reporting discrepancies.
Execute quality checks on accounting data, investigate outages or exceptions, and coordinate sustainable solutions with internal and external partners.
Perform root cause analysis for recurring issues and recommend preventive controls to reduce operational and financial reporting risk.
Assess existing processes and controls and independently develop recommendations for procedural, control, and reporting enhancements.
Drive process standardization, automation, and data-quality improvements using available technology and analytical tools.
Serve as a subject matter resource for investment accounting processes, security-level data, and complex transaction or product-related questions.
Communicate and interact professionally with peers, management, customers, auditors, and external service providers at all levels.
Support new business implementation, system changes, product launches, and strategic initiatives for the organization and company.
Maintain accurate process documentation, standard operating procedures, control evidence, and governance materials.
Support internal and external audits, regulatory reviews, and compliance or control-testing activities as required.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field.• 6+ years of experience in investment accounting, fund accounting, asset management, insurance accounting, or related financial services function.
Strong investment product knowledge, including fixed income securities, equities, derivatives, and/or alternative investments.
Strong understanding of security-level accounting information, reconciliations, accounting controls, and financial or regulatory reporting.
Ability to independently analyze and resolve complex accounting and data issues using appropriate resources and sound professional judgment.
