Love keeping things organised, connecting the dots and helping teams deliver? This could be your next opportunity.

Central Districts Water is a new water services organisation being established to deliver drinking water, wastewater and stormwater services across Palmerston North, Rangitīkei and Horowhenua from 1 July 2027.

We're looking for a proactive and highly organised Project Coordinator to join our establishment programme and help bring everything together as we prepare for Day 1.

About the role | Mō te tūnga

This is much more than an administrative role. You'll be right at the heart of a busy and complex programme, helping our project teams stay connected, organised and focused on delivery.

Working closely with the Senior Programme Manager and Project Managers, you'll play an important role in keeping plans up to date, tracking progress and making sure the right information gets to the right people at the right time.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating project plans, milestones, deliverables and reporting.

  • Tracking actions, risks, issues and key decisions to keep projects moving.

  • Preparing reports, dashboards and presentations for senior leaders.

  • Organising programme meetings, workshops and governance activities.

  • Working with teams to identify gaps, follow up on commitments and maintain accurate information.

  • Supporting project documentation, financial tracking and continuous improvement.

About you | Mōhou ake

You're someone who enjoys being organised, takes pride in the detail and isn't afraid to follow things up to get results.

You'll bring:

  • Around 2–5 years' experience in project coordination, programme support or a similar role.

  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to juggle competing priorities.

  • Strong Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills.

  • Experience maintaining project plans, registers and reporting.

  • Great communication skills and confidence working with people at all levels.

  • A proactive mindset, good judgement and an eye for identifying issues before they become problems.

Experience in a complex project or transformation environment would be an advantage, but what matters most is your initiative, attention to detail and ability to keep things moving.

This is a fixed-term role anticipated to run until 30 September 2027, supporting the establishment of Central Districts Water.

Why join us?

You'll have the opportunity to contribute to a significant regional initiative, work alongside experienced project professionals and build your skills while helping establish a brand-new organisation.

If you enjoy variety, thrive in a collaborative environment and like seeing the results of your hard work, we'd love to hear from you.

This is a fixed-term opportunity supporting the establishment and initial stabilisation of Central Districts Water, with an anticipated end date of 30 September 2027 (to be confirmed).

Apply now and be part of shaping the future of water services in our region.

Please note: Applications will be reviewed as they are received, and we may progress suitable candidates during the advertising period. This means the advertisement may be removed before the advertised closing date, so we encourage you to apply early.
